Scenery not found

Featured Replies

On loading FSX-STEAM I am getting two warnings….one is….
“SCENERY.CFG Local scenery directory (Addon scenery\SCENERY)in scenery area 115 not found)
Short of a complete re install of FSX STEAM, is there a way of correcting this and finding the missing item?
Thanks
Donald

To verify your game files please do the following:

1. Load the Steam platform and log into your account
2. Click the Library tab in the menu at the top of the screen
3. Click the List View from the view options on the top right of the screen
4. Right click on Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition to bring up a popup menu
5. Click on Properties from the popup menu to bring up another popup box
6. Click on Local files from the popup box menu
7. Click on Verify integrity of game cache from the Local file options
8. Wait for the progress bar to finish verifying your files. Additional files may download
9. Restart Steam
10. Restart Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition

or

1. Log on to Steam
2. Select "View Games Library" from the "Games" menu
3. Right-click the Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition icon and select "Properties"
4. Select the "Local Files" tab and click on "Verify Integrity of Games Cache"

It's just a disconnect between the scenery library and the existing files.
You can either:

1. look for this Addon Scenery entry in the in-game scenery library

and delete it, OR

2. Create a folder in your FSX root folder, like this:

Many thanks Charlie.

You are the only person who has guided me in the right direction to solve this issue.!

The errors have now gone and I have printed off your solution for 'safe keeping'

Once again...many thanks

Trying to help here is frankly just irritating.

Why?  Cuz my guess was better than your guess?  I guessed maybe a default scenery got deleted and the Verify
Game Files put the missing one back in!

FSX Steam Edition has a minor fault, which is that it does not install an Addon Scenery folder, as FSX does,
but Dovetail forgot to remove the Addon Scenery scenery library entry.
This results in the error message "Addon scenery\SCENERY)in scenery area 115 not found" because FSX-SE is being
told to look for a folder that is not there.
There are two easy ways to fix this, either add the folder, or remove the instruction to look for it.
My suggestion has no side effects, such as overwriting any files that addons might have modified,
something that happens every time Steam is allowed to verify files.
