December 16, 20241 yr Hey Guys. I've had atleast 3 builds in the same case. A Corsair 570X. I've liked it very much, but the power button is on the fritz. It's happened to others in the past also based on research. I think it's almost impossible to find parts for it. So I've realized I may have to bite the bullet and do a case transplant. So anyway. Looking for solid recommendations on a new case. Some things important to me. -Not interested in a super large case if possible. Used those in the past, but prefer the floor space used by my current mid tower. -Dust filters. This is the first case I've ever had with these and they work fantastic. Hardly any dust ever gets in the case. want to keep it that way. -Obviously good airflow. Seems like tempered glass is the only way to go for that and acoustics. My current case is also glass. I don't love the idea that it could explode one day however. So I'm far from locked on that style case. -Ability to fit a Founders Edition 4090. I guess at this point it's worth being future proof and considering 5090 dimensions which look a good bit larger. Not even sure if that will kill the mid size case category all together though. Anyway just looking for peoples thoughts. thanks. Edit: I'm also considering buying a replacement external power switch and just going that way until I do a full proper rebuild when eventually upgrading mb/cpu 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next
December 16, 20241 yr Fitting an alternative start button is usually quite easy if you have a soldering iron, (I think where you are it's called soddering). Unfortunately glass panel cases limit the opportunities for location. If you can get a matching replacement switch then that is obviously best for appearances, but failing that, any momentary pushbutton switch will work. Most have a circular fitting and just require a suitable hole. It looks like there may be room to drill a hole in front of the existing power switch, but I'm not sure about access. For a new switch just snip the wires from the existing switch and connect them to the replacement. The only function of the switch is to make a momentary contact, which triggers the board to power up. It has no function when the pc is running, other than for an emergency shutdown. Another way is to access the 2 power switch wires from the other end, where they fit at the bottom end of the motherboard. with the side panel off, You'll probably have about 10-12 inches accessible so cut them as long as possible and attach a p/b switch to them. Just run the wires under the side panel with the pushbutton on the outside. It's a simple temporary solution. The benefit of switch replacement is that we may not know for a while the exact dimensions of next gen graphics cards, and it would be a pity to get a new case and find there is a problem if you want a 5090. December 16, 20241 yr I myself am using the Fractal Design Define C. It is a mid-tower case but a little bit wider to support bigger air coolers. Its not a glass case, but has internal sound dampening (my build was focused on silent running). Easy to clean dust filters on front & bottom. I have an older design with 4 USB ports on the front - newer version seems to be limited to only two. I'm happy with it. Edited December 16, 20241 yr by GGLurch_2
December 17, 20241 yr Author thanks guys. I ended up purchasing a replacement 3rd party switch quickly after starting this post. Should hold me over until I do a rebuild. Thanks for the input. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next
