December 23, 20241 yr You might recall, I'd earlier mentioned that, during the first week of my acquisition of MSFS2024 (via Game Pass subscription), I'd the most frustrating experience trying to fly the (MSFS2024) airliners especially the iniBuilds (default) a/c, and also the (MS/Asobo) Boeing 787-10. However, since then and post Update 1.2.7.0, I've now successfully tested and flown (see my previous few posts, if you wish) all the 5 (primary) iniBuilds airliners (A321LR, A400M, A330-200, A310-300, and A320neo, excluding the Beluga), without any issues encountered. But the 787-10 is the one that I'd to still test since my initial disastrous experience with it, the first time I flew it in (pre-Update) MSFS2024 (my attempt to fly the 787, besides pauses, freezes, and stutters, was marred by frequent loss of avionics and cockpit displays...often in mid-flight). I must point out that even in my Xbox/MSFS2020, I'd occasional loss of flightdeck avionics and displays in the 787-10 (though it could be usually fixed by quitting out of MSFS first and then restarting the flight). Today, I've good news for myself based on this test fight. For the entire duration of the flight, there was not a single instance of any such avionics loss. The flightdeck came up perfectly to start with and faithfully stayed so without a single blink...🙂...throughout my trip...from takeoff to touchdown.... making me wonder what has changed from MSFS2020 to MSSF2024 for my Xbox system, besides the fact that even the aircraft (such as this 787) are now "Streamed in"...Oh well... For my test flight today, I've lifted off RJAA (Tokyo/Narita Airport) on a short excursion to RJNS (Mt. Fuji/Shizuoka Airport), with a planned (en-route) visit of sacred Mt. Fuji which is naturally on my mind...🙂...In my previous post, I'd wandered to the Great Rift Valley of Eastern Africa...🙂...in an A320neo and visited Mount Kilimanjaro, and here, in this post, I visit Mt. Fuji. It's said, "Mount Fuji's exceptionally symmetrical cone, which is covered in snow for about five months of the year, is commonly used as a cultural icon and spiritual symbol of Japan..." Indeed, you'll see here (per my 3 successive close-up flyby shots below), how, this mountain not only has a unique "symmetric" structure, but also, it's completely covered by snow, as my 787 flies just about 2,000 ft. above the apex of it. I've defined a custom LATLONG waypoint (S35E138) on the FMC to direct me precisely to the Co-ordinates (35°21′39″N 138°43′39″E) of Mt. Fuji situated ~60 miles southwest of Tokyo. And then, against the backdrop of Mt. Fuji, my destination, nearby Shizuoka Airport (RJNS) is located another ~40 miles further, where I've finally touched down on its ILS Runway 30 (see my final screenshot). Excuse my landing because I might have come close to a tail strike there, while snapping a few touchdown pictures for proof instead of focusing on aviating the Dreamliner...🙂...but if you trust me...there was no tail strike... At ~225 ft length, the 787-10 is the longest variant of the 787. I read, "To avoid a tail strike on a Boeing 787-10, pilots must primarily focus on maintaining proper landing technique, including avoiding excessive pitch-up during the flare, ensuring a stable sink rate on approach, and carefully monitoring the aircraft's attitude to prevent over-rotation; this is especially crucial due to the aircraft's long fuselage which can make it more susceptible to tail strikes if not handled correctly...." Oh well...In my defense, the RW 787-10 pilots do not take pictures during their landing phase...🙂... Anyway, I hope you enjoy this collection of pictures of my namesake Boeing airliner...🙂...which flew here today on my behalf...in a remarkably trouble-free and immensely enjoyable manner...in fact the best it has ever flown for me in MSFS. More significantly, it also helped me pay my (virtual) respects to sacred Mt. Fuji today...in the same spirit as the (native) Japanese people pay respect to (and worship) Mount Fuji as a sacred symbol and a source of national pride... Thanks for viewing...!
