December 25, 20241 yr I can't tell the difference. X-Plane 12 already looks good so does it make noticeable difference? I am a bit reluctant because not sure what kind of FPS hit my system will take. Some context below https://www.thresholdx.net/news/xe134r What’s New: -X-Plane 12 Enhancements. -Camera exposure adjustments. -A new bloom slider for fine-tuning visuals. -Improved Weather Effects. -Lightning strikes with cloud-to-cloud and cloud-to-ground variations. -City lights reflecting on both the atmosphere and clouds. Key Fixes & Improvements: -Light scattering adjustments for better realism. -Anti-aliasing fix for NVIDIA cards in X-Plane 12. -Multiple cloud and shadow rendering enhancements. -Fixed haze effects and cloud white edges in mountainous areas. -Vulkan crash fixes and improved performance when minimizing windows. -Airport lights reappearing properly at night. -Thunderstorm formation improvements. December 25, 20241 yr I paid for this 5 years ago so decided to give it a try. Quick initial feedback. Installer ask to make registry changes with elevated permission in Windows. The plugin worked with serial number from the past and didn't require sending any additional email to xEnviro to "activate" the serial number (used to deactivates when not used for more that X number of months) The performance hit for me is 3 ~ 5 FPS In Dallas today (KTKI) the ground and atmosphere looked very good. A bit pixelated at times. December 25, 20241 yr Few more things discovered. xEnviro will not fully apply all the effects in VR particularly fog/cloud When this plugin is on, Nvidia recorder is showing a strange behavior. I reported this in their support forum. Two more shots with and without xEnviro xEnviro Default X-Plane 12.1.3rc2 System Spec 1: Nvidia RTX 4090, AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, Res 5120x1440, HP Reverb G2System Spec 2: AMD Radeon RX 7900XT, Intel I-9 9990K, Res 3840x1080, HP Reverb G2
December 26, 20241 yr Author Just upgraded to xEnviro 1.34, and so far very good indeed ! Smooth as silk in my rig, noticed no degradation from using it in the couple test flights I did, in situations with different weather scenarios. I'm rather satisfied so far 🙂 Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
