The Next Patch For FSX ???

Recommended Posts

There is general consensus that FSX needs some repairs. Setting aside the past history of why they exist, it seems time for Microsoft to make a policy statement on the repairs that will be made and any new functions to be added. As of today there is no list of items that are addressed and no target date for release. Reading the dribbles of info from the employees at Microsoft, one would think that by now things would be nailed down. Seems like an "open-ended" schedule. Some live in fear of not fully respecting the people who create these products. If this was freeware I would accord them saint-hood. However, they are paid handsomely, and Microsoft makes big money on this "$70" program. Thus I expect a list of changes and a target date.Regards,Dick Boley

Hi,You do know that Microsoft has kept us updated on this in the FSX forum, correct? There are internal procedures that ACES has to follow as well. It's not like "Let's release a list of fixes and the date."I am sure you will get a list of changes when SP1 is released and you'll know the date because it will be released, but not before hand.Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Hmmm, perhaps it is the proceedures I disagree with. I have no idea what the committed fixes are. Lots of inuendo and guessing. Yes, I also know the aged argument that spending $70 does not endow me with the right to be critical of Microsoft. I feel that the product I was sold was not as complete as it should be. I just want to know what they will be offering as repairs. As an example there was early commentary from Microsoft employees that the resample program may be improved. Is that going to happen? And so on.... Is Microsoft's position denfensible? Yes it is. I just feel more comfortable with either a government or a Corporation that lists the problems and their intent to fix them. It is called committment to the customer.Regards,Dick Boley

Two points.First, Microsoft sensibly will not give details of what will be in the patch or when it will be released until it is sure of certain of them. The obvious reason is while they may be attempting include/modify various features, they can not be sure that they will be included until testing is complete. The other reason is the criticism Microsoft would attracct if it didn't provide everything in in an advance listing on time.Second, there is a FSX forum where these matters can be, and have been discussed. That is where this thread should be.

Can anyone tell me what improvements are installed by applying the official Microsoft FSX update linked on the fsinsider.com site that are not provided by other tweaks (autogen, textures, clouds, trees, etc.)listed on this and other sites? I don't want to be working at cross-purposes by installing the update that may circumvent the improvements in various tweaks that seem to have helped overall performance.Thanks.
