January 4, 20251 yr I use Firefox but all browsers offer optional extensions. When I click on Extensions, the extension list drops down like in the picture. In the picture are all the suggestions Youtube is offering. Notice they are all widescreen, none are shorts. There are no "shorts" anywhere on my youtube. Because I slid on the toggle switch for Youtube Shorts Block to on. (I also toggled on Return Youtube Dislikes so that I can see both thumbs up and thumbs down numbers underneath YT videos. I really like returning YouTube dislikes. 😄 AdBlockPlus works well enough to remove ads, especially if you right click on a link->Open in new tab and give it a few seconds. Reloading a video often removes a running ad, and toggling full screen back and forth will usually take you to the Skip option.
