I used Map Enhancement for a long time, the textures are way better with HLOD on, and more up-to-date (at least in my area), but in the latest updates, the color/brightness/contrast correction feature got locked to the paid version, so I uninstalled it. As a casual gamer, I thought it wasn’t worth paying for, even with the clear improvements.
July 11, 2025Jul 11 Indeed the manual cache only stores the PG files. i did a LOT of testing, basically caching most of the UK in a 200GB MC file. London city takes 8.5GB space, the WHOLE of Snowdonia only 450kB. It was an interesting way of seeing where all the big PG is for sure. Every time I go into the MC dialog every one is unselected, whatever I select they remain unselected if I go back in. Dont know if they work in sim and reset when you view them, very poor feature implementation. For what its worth MC DOES read Map Enhancement mod latest maps. Tested by watching the map tile screen in ME interface go crazy when caching a large area. So it does pull in that info. Except, it's not PG so you're wasting time again. Overall a complete farcical feature imo, going to reclaim that 200gb now if I can. EDIT: ahhh - deleted it all and just realized SELECTING the areas is NOT for USING them but DELETING them only. Just flew Cardiff to Snowdonia over all the cached tiles and it looked terrible. Worse than FSX on a bad day.
