Maddogx sound files?

Featured Replies

Purchased the MDX for 2020 recently and am still coming to grips with it. One problem is that the co-pilot call outs are barely audible. I found the sound files for the crew announcements (boarding, prepare to land etc.) and increased the volume using Audacity. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to get those announcements to play. Any clues? Also, I can't even find the co-pilot sound files...can someone tell me what folder they're in? Thanks. I was really looking forward to getting this plane and so far am pretty disappointed. Been at this a long time and never saw a plane with such a convoluted setup. Plane itself is OK, but it's been a struggle getting all the options set. And yes, did lots of manual reading and video watching.

Sidney, shouldn't you be working on some scenery project instead of flying - you were always so very good at it.

Unfortunately, altering sounds in the new sims is extremely convoluted compared to the older sims.  Working with encrypted sound files (as I'm sure they are on the MD) makes it an even more daunting challenge.

In my experiences, you'll have to get proficient in Wwise and create a whole new sound package for the plane as it is very difficult to "piggy back" any changes you want to make onto the existing files.  In other words, it's usually an "all or nothing" proposition if you want to retain most of the elements from the existing sound package.

Oh no, I've been found out. 🫤 Thanks for the kind words. I was away from flight simming for a few years and came back to it. I got pretty burned out on scenery design and have no desire to start that up again. Anyway the stock scenery has improved...I originally got into scenery design because the stock scenery in FS9 was so awful I just couldn't stand it.  😧

I've noticed that some things have become much more complicated, but not necessarily better. I love the 2020 scenery...quite a leap forward from FSX. On the other hand, there seem to be far fewer decent planes available, even in payware. Oh well...it's still a very enjoyable hobby despite the usual stupid problems.

Depending on how the audio is directed in an addon something I've found very helpful (expecially as I have TWO audio playback devices, the TV via HDMI and headphones via an audio interface is to use Windows Mixer.

I right click on the speaker button bottom right screen then select Windows mixer and you will get a list of every discreet output CURRENTLY running. By adjusting say the sim volume to an addon volume IF the addon uses discrete audio you can get much better audio this way.

From memory in 2020 fsrealistic and ASFS use discreet audio so I can mix those separately easily. If you see the maddog listed there it will work. Even better if the voices are also discreet.

Maybe a long shot but worth a try!

Failing that try a software equaliser. Then boost the audio frequency for the voices which will definitely help.

Thanks Russell. I checked and all the volumes are already at max. Appreciate the suggestion though.
