February 28, 20251 yr I know there has been a lot of discussion about these drivers on various forums and things "breaking" after installing them but for my own part, I have never been happier with a driver upgrade - ever! I hardly ever bother changing drivers because unless they are addressing a very specific problem that I am having, I have never really seen the point. Even when there are purported performance improvements, I have never seen them on my setup. I actually only bothered to install these 572.42 drivers in a "what the heck moment". I was already reasonably happy with the setup as it was though I had always had more stutter than I would have liked in P3D v4.5 which I am running now and for the foreseeable future. I could never nail it down - so I gave up and just thought it was part of having to live with P3D. Trying things like re-installing existing drivers, trying older ones, shader file clear outs, etc never made any difference. But I can truly say that on my specific setup, these new drivers are almost too good to be true. I am not exaggerating - they have 99.9% got rid of my troublesome P3D stutters - except for the unavoidable ORBX micro-pauses when it is loading a big chunk of ORBX scenery in one hit (I actually prefer these singular micro pauses than stuttering which might go on for quite a few seconds otherwise). An example of the ORBX micro-pause is heading to Seattle - you get one of those pauses (maybe 1/4 of a second) when the city buildings themselves load. Another big bonus is that I can now use the texture_size_exp=10 tweak without ever running into an out of graphics memory message (RTX4080 Super - 16 GB VRAM). I always had a very specific test flight to check this - flying from Monroe W16 runway 25, doing a circuit over Monroe, then over Harvey S43 and then landing at KSEA Seattle and then taxiing back to parking on Bravo. Always - 100% of the time without fail - that flight would bring up the graphics memory error message when taxiing along KSEA Bravo between Hotel and Golf. Always. I tried it 5 times with the new drivers over the last two days - not one problem. With the old drivers, it would have brought up the error 5 times out of 5. Always. So really happy with this driver update. It does not seem to have caused any harm to anything else either (hasn't made anything else better either - just P3D).

March 3, 20251 yr Author Well I am not sure why you bothered to comment then or felt the need to. Everyone knows that new drivers come out all the time and if the thread is not relevant to you then the simplest and least irritating form of action is to simply ignore the thread or refrain from commenting at all. Infact I am finding this to be a trend at Avsim these days. If you mention anything that is not bang up to date with what happened in the hardware of flight simming world yesterday, the trolls come out. I am generally very hesitant to make posts about drivers since as I mentioned, never has any driver made any significant difference to my simming experience of the last 30 years. But this particular driver did - and the difference was significant. Literally in too good to be true territory, so I thought I would mention it. 572.47 was also the latest when I installed them mid last week. Since the 572.47 drivers perform literally flawlessly on my system and with P3D in particular...and I do spend a fair amount of time testing them for performance and stability, I will stick with them until I need to change them for future compatibility with a future title. I pointed out that there were later drivers. You'll survive. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.
