March 1, 20251 yr Iam using Pilot2ATC 3.0.0.0 v.30n together with Windows 11 ; 24H2 , that is the one with Voice Access . Have seen many reports and suggestions about the language trainer issue , there is even a weldone You-Tube video (German). Have done all tips (from Dave and others and have followed the manual) The Fmr Practice Trainer works well. When pushing train a new window pops up , with again options to train . Pushing these train buttons nothing happens , no new (white) screen . One of the few suggestions I can't do is via the Control Panel to the Advanced Speech Options to Microsoft Speech Recognizer 8.0 for Windows, because this option is not more available in W11 24H2. But in the P2A Speech Setup Information I can see : Reco Engine Desciption: MS Speech Recognizer 8.0 for Windows and Reco Enginename : MS-1033-80-DESK . Conclusion must be : P2A is using it . Windows Speech Recognition seems hidden somewhere ... Question : Has someone with P2A 3.0.0.0 v30n (the latest update) and W11 24H2 (the latest update) a working language trainer ...?
March 1, 20251 yr Commercial Member Yes. It works normally for me with Windows 11 Version 24H2. First, make sure you have WIndows 11 Voice Access turned off. That could interfere, although I don't know whether it does or not. Second, at the bottom of the System->Sound page of Windows Settings, do the Microsoft "Setting up a microphone". Testing the microphone sometimes fixes issues. Third, use the SpeechTrainer to be sure the microphone is working correctly with P2A. If not, the Language trainer will likely not work. Say just "Say Altimeter" and be sure it is correctly recognized in the Trainer practice area. Finally, press the Train button on the right of the Speech Trainer to open the Language Trainer. Then, with any of the 10 controller scripts selected, press the Train button in the Full Training box and the Windows Speech Recognition Voice Training white window should open. Press Next and the training should start. Dave
March 3, 20251 yr Author Hi Dave, Point one . Voice Access is turned off. Point two . I have again done "the setting of the microphone" . Point three . "Say Altimeter" is correctly recognized in the Trainer practice area using the SpeechTrainer . Point four . Push the button on the right of the SpeechTrainer to open the Language Trainer . Then , with any of the 10 controller scripts selected , press the Train button in the full Training box . Okay all done but nothing happens by point four . No language trainer . btw : Working yesterday during some time with the SpeechTrainer had also effect to better recognition . Stays that the Language Trainer refuses to open in mine Windows configuration ... Must be an Windows issue. Dave, thanks for your help and quick answer, much appreciated .
March 4, 20251 yr Commercial Member Here are some Windows 11 Language settings to try: Settings->Time & Language->Language: be sure English US is at top of the Language List Settings->Time & Language->Region: be sure United States is selected as the Country or Region Settings->Time & Language->Speech->Speech language: be sure it is set to English(United States) Settings->Time & Language->Speech->Installed voice packages: be sure English(United States) is listed Hopefully changing these settings will git it to work for you. Dave
March 5, 20251 yr Author Have done all these settings , but sorry Dave , it does't help . Is it usefull to download (if possible ) Microsoft Speech Recognizer 8.0 for Windows ? As far as I can see it is not more present in Windows 11 Version 24H2 .
March 5, 20251 yr Commercial Member When you add the English(United States) language pack, it will appear in the list of installed language packs in Settings->Time & Language -> Language & Region. Click on the "---" to the right of the English(United States) language pack and select "language options". Then, in the Speech Recognition section, there should be 2 options: Basic speech recognition and Enhanced speech recognition. Press the Download button for the Basic speech recognition. That will install the language pack needed. Do not download the Enhanced speech recognition. Dave
March 5, 20251 yr Author I have both installed for the English (United States) language pack : The Basic speech recognition aswell as the Enhaunced speech recognition Is this a problem for the P2A Language Trainer ? What to do now ? How to disable this .
March 5, 20251 yr Commercial Member As far as I know, you cannot uninstall it. You should be able to stop it from running automatically on startup. How do I to uninstall speech recognition software - Microsoft Community P2A starts its own instance of speech recognition, so it should not be started at startup. Dave
April 18, 20251 yr Hey, In case someone else is looking for a solution for this problem, I managed to figure this one out. My setup is Windows 11 24H2. Do everything that Dave posted. If you installed the enhanced speech recognition pack - don't worry about it. In your Windows search, type in "Text to Speech" Click the oldest looking icon On Speech Recognition tab, click "Train Profile..." You can finish the training if you want, but it doesn't really matter. Now that this training was launched, you can go back to the P2A Language Trainer and launch the training with no issues. 😄
April 19, 20251 yr Commercial Member Reya, Thank you for publishing this. It should help lots of users!! Dave
