MSFS2024 StreamedPackages location (help for updating AL)

Featured Replies

Hello guys 🍻

I have had some reports this week that Addons linker is not showing the recently added SU19 airports on the map. Having not really used MSFS2024 nor followed its changes recently, i have some big doubts. Was the StreamedPackages folder location changed with SU1 (or recently) ? I did a little search but could not find precise informations.

Currently, for Steam, AL looks for the SP folder here ->  %appdata%\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\StreamedPackages

For MS-Store, AL looks for the SP folder here : %localappdata%\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\StreamedPackages

Are those folders not used anymore and we should now look for the Streamedpackages folder in the same base folder as the Real community folder ? For example for me it's :

X:\Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\Packages\Community
X:\Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\Packages\StreamedPackages

That would be a good change for sure to not force people to have that folder on the c:\ drive 👍 but, since the old folder is still there, i don't know if it's still used or if they were just lazy removing it ... well to sum up, nothing is really clear to me 😱

So maybe some of you with better knowledge than me can give me some informations about this, maybe i should just remove all references to those 'appdata / locaappdata' in Addons linker and search for the folder in the same base folder where the Community folder is located. But i'm really not sure if it's the same for everyone (folders are even very different between Steam and MS-Store, it's quite confusing at times).

... and if you read throught this post and it just gave you a big headache it's normal so sorry for that 😁

Thank you and have a nice weekend ! 🍻

Hi I can confirm that in my case the folder

%localappdata%\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\StreamedPackages

is not anymore used after SU1 update so it can be safely removed.

Streamed package now goes to \Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\Packages\StreamedPackages.

In my Store version, this folder is now indeed in the same location as the Community folder.
