March 30, 20251 yr If I use active sky next passive depiction, will I still get the wing fade from cloud thickness or is that just if I don’t use MSFS weather and only use ASN? Josh Scholl
March 30, 20251 yr My understanding of Active Sky is passive mode uses msfs2024 clouds but, keeps all the physics of Active Sky. Not sure if that answers your question, or not. i7-13700KF @ 5.3GHz 32.0GB DDR5 @ 5600 RTX 3080 65" LG OLED @ 4k
March 30, 20251 yr Hello. Just curious… i have heard that asobo realtime weather is the most accurate, but sone other say activesky worth it. we are looking for variety, good combinstion of clouds and msny different cloud textures like sofly. But , in a dynamic way. what do you think?
March 30, 20251 yr Author Not seeing any of the cloud thickness effect. FSX the wings would fade in and out through clouds. Maybe I have to use active skies engine and not the MSFS weather engine. Edited March 30, 20251 yr by abh_jc_03 Josh Scholl
March 31, 20251 yr Commercial Member ASFS, in passive mode, does not control weather conditions including visibility. Passive mode provides all of the AS underlying systems, UIs, mapping, briefing, planning, data, etc, as well as air effects including turbulence, using MSFS live weather. March 31, 20251 yr Author So the cumulonimbus clouds are if I use the ASN weather preset instead of the passive mode? Less features if I use passive mode? Josh Scholl

If you want ASFS clouds to be depicted, you'll need to enable Preset Weather Control mode vs. Passive mode. We don't control clouds or other weather (outside of air effects) in passive mode, in this way you can use MSFS internal live weather with ASFS features outside of direct weather scene control. April 1, 20251 yr Author I tried making a flight plan within the program by typing in the ICAO FOR DEPARTURE AND ARRIVAL. I THEN CHOSE TO DO THE AUTO DIRECT. WHEN I WENT INTO THE GAME THOUGH IT SAID THERE WAS NO FLIGHT PLAN LOADED. IS THAT BECAUSE I WAS USING PASSIVE MODE AND HAVE TO USE THE WEATHER PRESET? I didn’t see anywhere to load the flight once I type that in. Only load that I found was like a Sim brief. I am in career mode in Microsoft flight simulator 24. there’s already a default flight plan already loaded in a simulator in career mode. Edited April 1, 20251 yr by abh_jc_03 Josh Scholl
April 1, 20251 yr Commercial Member ASFS plans entered (as you did) are not automatically loaded into FS. However, if you load/set your plan in FS, ASFS will auto load it (per option set ON by default), so it's recommended to just do it there in the sim. You do need to have ASFS running/connected before the flight plan is set/loaded in sim so that it can trigger AS auto load. Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
April 1, 20251 yr Author I don’t have an option to create a flight plan in career mode. It’s already set. Josh Scholl
