I had to quickly replace my old pc.  When I try to activate P2A it said already activated on a different machine.  What should I do as the old pc is dead?

After entering the Key and email, press Deactivate.  Then, after that succeeds, press Activate.

how exactly does the software manage to 'Deactivate' the license without being able to run on the old machine?
