April 6, 20251 yr I just got an AMD 9800X3D. While non-FS'ing, I make sure to switch to low power mode whether through Process Lasso or now Ryzan Master selecting Eco Mode. At the wall, I am showing 84 watts. How can I make it lower? Or is that as good as it gets? Edited April 6, 20251 yr by bic 10700k / Gigabyte 3060
April 6, 20251 yr Is this just a personel challenge. It will be barely noticeable on your power bill to go lower. Probably won't notice it at all.
April 7, 20251 yr The CPU has only a small impact on total power consumption when it is idle. Your RTX 3060 will also consume ~10W idle. Motherboards, harddrives, network adapters etc. also consume power. And then there is the PSU: these are less efficient when the system is drawing much less power than the PSU is targeted for. April 8, 20251 yr Author Ya, I have five GoFlight modules. I did notice a big power draw on rudder pedals. We'll see, my power bill is typically around $52 USD total. 10700k / Gigabyte 3060
April 10, 20251 yr Why you should check and keep your BIOS updated. https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/cpus/amds-microcode-vulnerability-also-affects-zen-5-cpus-granite-ridge-turin-ryzen-ai-300-and-fire-range-at-risk Raymond Fry.
April 10, 20251 yr Author Thanks, I did update the bios / uefi as a second step to installing. Monthly / quarterly i try to remember to check for new. I think the Gigabyte app actually checks for you. 10700k / Gigabyte 3060
