April 14, 20251 yr Does VNAV work for departures in the Garmin g3000? I've been flying general aviation recently such as the TBM 930 and vnav works fine with arrivals but some of my SIDS i fly out of have altitude restrictions on them and I click the vnav button and enter the final restricted altitude after takeoff and it doesn't climb or meet any of the restricted waypoints, am I doing something wrong or does VNAV in the g3000 only works for arrivals?
April 15, 20251 yr Afaik it only works for descents and arrivals. I always climb in FLC mode. But perhaps it's airplane dependant: I only fly the Vision Jet.
April 15, 20251 yr I just tried VNAV in the stock Citation Longitude, with the G3000, and VNAV worked fine. I departed KLAS on 26R, flying the RADYR 2 RNAV DEP, which has several altitude and speed constraints, and it flew them perfectly. I set both FLC and VNAV prior to take off, and engaged the autopilot soon after takeoff, it did a good job. The altitude was set to FL280, but it still crossed SELLZ at 8000, the maximum on the SID, and accelerated to 230kts after takeoff, the maximum speed at RUDYY, there after 250kts, and 300kts once through 10,000ft. April 15, 20251 yr There are different levels of VNAV in different G3000 installations. The TBM has the simple VNAV option, which has no climb VNAV at all, and only simple descent VNAV with no path smoothing. On the other hand, the Longitude is equipped with the advanced VNAV, which does contain basic climb VNAV (stopping at restrictions and arming FLC for continuation) and descent VNAV with path smoothing. This is not a sim avionics limitation but actually how it is IRL as well.
