Looks like a new monitor is in my future. Which one?

Featured Replies

I'm running P3D 4.5 on a Win7 64 OS. When I boot up from overnight cold, the monitor screen alternately flashes between normal display and black rhythmically. I ran an OCCT stress test on the Geforce GTX970 video card yesterday and it did not show any errors. Needlessly to say my system is long in the tooth, but P3D is running smoothly and I really don't want to deal with configuring Win 11 and all the MS BS. I don't have a problem with throwing 200-250 USD toward a new monitor. My desk cutout opening is only 26" wide horizontally so I'm not sure what is the largest monitor would be that will fit. I believe the current ASUS is a 27" diagonal but I'm not sure.

Any on point suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If it's in your budget, I would recommend the one I just installed on my system this weekend:

I got a 32" LG 32GS95UV-W  OLED monitor.  It is friggin' unbelievable.  The clarity, colors, response are out of this world.  I've flown MSFS 2024 and P3dV5.4 on it and I'm very, very impressed.  The scenery and planes look phenomenally real.  My cockpits are much brighter and I'm having fun like never before.  It has brought new life into my sims.  No overstatement!

I am replacing an LG 32 UN650 which was also an excellent monitor but since I just ordered a whole new computer system from Jetline Systems (my 4th one from them - been a customer for 16 years), I felt I should have an OLED monitor to show off the RTX 5080 card I have being installed in that new system.

Bought the OLED at Best Buy.  Excellent price and on sale.

A 32" size 16:9 monitor is about 28" wide, which won't fit a 26" space. On the other hand, most monitors have a VESA mount on the back which means it would mount to a wall behind the desk.

With only 26" space available horizontal, you only choice in size is 27 inches.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

Thanks for the rec Stan. I'm sure that OLED looks great but it's about double my budget for my antiquated rig. Don't blame you for going first cabin with your new Jetline.

That's a good price on the BG65. Walmart is $50 higher.

$300 is a bit of a push on my budget. I need to buy a new audio mixer for my band, my BMW R90 is charging at 10 volts instead of 14 so I'm pretty strapped for money. Not to mention a trip to the grocery store.

I don't "game" anything other than P3D. I'm not up on tech specs so, would the BG65 offer any advantages that my GTX970 gpu could take advantage of over the Samsung G50 QHD?
