Featured Replies

I have some knowledge with Pc's but not enough im afraid.

My Pc is starting to slowly faulter and it is 5 years old. I want to move into the future so to speak so, Looking for opinions

on a new Pc. I don't want to build one, at my age it just gets frustrating. I have come across 2 set ups. I only fly FS 2024 and do regular computer stuff.

no hard core gaming and no VR.

But, i want to be somewhat future proof. so.....

1st set up,

  • AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7GHz Processor
  • MSI Pro X870-P WiFi
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16GB GDDR7
  • 32GB DDR5-6000 RAM
  • 2TB Solid State Drive
  • Microsoft Windows 11 Pro
  • 5GbE LAN
  • WiFi 7 802.11be
  • Bluetooth 5.4
  • 360mm AIO Cooler

2nd setup,

  • Intel Core Ultra 9 285K 3.2GHz Processor
  • MSI Pro Z890
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16GB GDDR7
  • 32GB DDR5-6000 RAM
  • 2TB Solid State Drive
  • Microsoft Windows 11 Pro
  • 2.5GbE LAN
  • WiFi 7
  • Bluetooth 5.4
  • Liquid 360 Cooler

Thanks for your opinions.

I'd go with setup 1.  The massive memory cache on the AMD X3D CPUs is a game-changing big deal.

The 5070Ti is probably OK as long as you're not running resolutions above 1440p--if you are, the 16GB VRAM could be a limitation, but not a show-stopper.

In the interest of future-proofing (as much as anyone can meaningfully do that), I would also consider 64GB of RAM.

2TB Solid State Drive

What kind of SSD? SATA or NVME M.2? The later is quite affordable these days and the better option.

What are they offering for PSU?

750 is recommended by Nvidia. As long as its a quality make I have no issue with that. For future upgrades, though, it might be worth upping it a bit. Particularly as the additional cost shouldn't be that much. Graphics cards seem to be getting more power hungry again, rather than less.
