October 15, 200817 yr Author I forgot about those-good link!We should try to get in touch with whoever did this fsx movie and put a bug into developing educational missions. After all they have had Flight one do their sweepstakes aircraft the last few years, and considering the safety courses could be experienced instead of read about it would be a great learning tool.GeofaMy blog:http://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/ Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
October 15, 200817 yr >It is amazing-down to following the car traffic on the>highway as he got boxed in. I drool for the same thing...>Geofa>My blog:>http://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/Hi Geof,Here's the flightplan for FS9 or FSX and if you have Active Sky download the weather for 1/02/06 9am local Billings MT and then subsequent 4 hours. Departure was 9:04 am.I haven't tried this yet, just made the files myself this morning. If the Active Sky weather doesn't reproduce conditions well enough we can make a weather profile from the data in the video. October 15, 200817 yr Has anyone used the FSX simulator sessions put out by American Flyers? I'm considering buying it but its fairly pricey and wanted to check with the group first.I'm already instrumented rated in the RW but am thinking of using it to have some challenging approaches and to keep sharp. I fly about 25 hours per year RW and this is nowhere near enough to keep on top of things. On FSX, I've logged about 100 hours in the past 12 months with about 40 hours "actual". Its been a huge help and I thought this might keep things fresh and challenging for the next few months. If you used it in the past, let me know how you liked it. Also, I might be willing to buy your copy off of you if its the type of course that you only use once or twice. Thanks all!
October 15, 200817 yr Author Thanks Zane! I'll give it a try.GeofaMy blog:http://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/ Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
October 15, 200817 yr Typical question I guess, but what/which FSX aircraft addon where they using in the video? I don'r recall a Debonair being made for FSX?Rob "Holland&Holland" de Vries http://kewlceo.com/forums/style_emoticons/...crazy_pilot.gif"To go up, pull the stick back. October 15, 200817 yr They are using Carenado's Bonanza F33 which was made for FS8 and updated to FS9. It will work in FSX RTM and SP1 but there are numerous problems running it in SP2/Acceleration. Let's hope they do the FSX spec version soon. Dr Zane Gard Sr Staff Reviewer AVSIM Private Pilot ASEL since 1986 IFR 2010 AOPA 00915027 American Mensa 100314888
October 15, 200817 yr Thanks Zane, well I hope they release their C152 first ;)Rob "Holland&Holland" de Vries http://kewlceo.com/forums/style_emoticons/...crazy_pilot.gif"To go up, pull the stick back. To go down, pull the stick back harder"
October 16, 200817 yr Author Someone sent me the link cause they thought that they had used the Debonair I made for fs2002/04 for the video. (I understand one of the major TV channels used my ex plane for the crash that I think killed Buddy Holly?! I haven't seen it but would love to). They used a f33 which is what the Deb turned into, and since my ex bird doesn't work with fsx that was the best match.More important to show the plane following the car traffic and increased weather resolution (which fsx has and fs9 doesn't) as the conditions got worse.Only basic major difference in the f33a and the deb is the 3rd back window. The deb was a great plane in any case and still is.This scenerio though is what makes the sim for me-looking for more..GeofaMy blog:http://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/ Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
October 16, 200817 yr Here's a better flightplan that is for FSX. The Active Sky weather never gets as serious as the actual incident but there are no reporting stations in the area of the accident so they would not be reporting this particular aspect of the storm. In flying it you can easily see how the pilot would be lulled into a belief of being able to make it given the earlier flying conditions and the fact you would fly through a rather tight spot and out into another valley and then into another tight spot.A shame.
