There's more to some expensive cables than you think

What a complex cable. But is it worth $130?

And why on earth they compared cables with different functions god knows. Apples to oranges.

What did they expect, if they compare a lightning cable to a basic USB.  🙄

Next time they should compare and oil tanker to a moped. 😁

USB-C specification is a joke … so bad, they are now required to put special symbols on the USB-C cables in an attempt to help customers know what spec USB-C cable they’re really getting.  Then we have Fiber Optic USB-C cable in an attempt to improve signal distance … but it’s unidirectional … yep, need to plugged in source to destination (cost is about $100-$150 also) and very likely it might not work with some devices.

So, how many of you have memorized the USB-C icon/image spec so you know what you’re getting?

RJ45 Cat8, it works, reliable, covers LONG distances, no issues with connecting 100’s of devices to it, fast (on up to 100GB/s) … but hey, lets invent USB-C so we can sell more (hmmm … back to choices and Capitalism at the cost of the confused consumer).

Connections, everything is connected 😉

You're confusing a cable spec with a signaling spec ... and I would never run 100gig over copper (way too much heat and energy usage, and it won't work for long distances) nor would I push 60-240W of charging power through it.

I run 10-20G RJ45 without issue, sure the transceivers can get hot … 100G move to SFP+ fiber cable if one is careful with bends.  100 meters is more than enough for my needs  vs. USB-C with is about 10 meters (and hope).

I wouldn’t push 60-240W thru a USB-C cables either … not confusing the specs, just the reality of implementation.  POE++ type 4 is 100 Watts of power … but frankly, running “device power” in the same cable as data is not the best of ideas and has and will cause a lot of issues with data reliability.
