August 22, 2025Aug 22 Hi folks. I have recently been getting everything going with MSFS 2024 and all is generally well. I am a completely new flyer so only flying with the C172 G1000 right now until I learn some more. At any rate, my question has to do with clarity in the scenery (not the cockpit). As mentioned, I am using a Quest 3 with Virtual Desktop. I use a 7800X3D and a 4090. I see videos all over YouTube in which VR scenery looks really sharp and clear. But to me in my system, it doesn't look that way. It isn't terrible but it sure isn't anything close to crystal clear. I wear glasses but I have prescription lenses in the Quest 3 and IPD is set right. It just never looks really clearly defined. I have tried TAA, DLSS DLAA. I just don't know what the trick is for me to get the outside world in clear sharp vision like so many of the videos on YouTube. Suggestions???????? Much appreciated. August 22, 2025Aug 22 What resolution are you running at and what settings are you using in sim and in virtual desktop? Are you using the latest Nvidia drivers and app? Any other tools like OpenXR Toolkit? I personally run DLSS in quality mode using the latest Model preset K override in the Nvidia app. I also have OpenXR Toolkit enabled with a few settings which contribute but most of these can be done directly in sim now. August 22, 2025Aug 22 From my past experience with Quest 3, the cockpit looked very nice and sharp, but the distant objects outside the cockpit looked worse. I think it is just beacuse the image signal going to the headset is compressed and loses quality. The headset must be PCVR such as Pimax Crystal, then it will do the trick.
