  1. If I lived closer, I would volunteer to assist with building, testing or packing them up. Good to hear from you and looking forward to a quality throttle.
  2. Just on the battery pack suggestion, I initially had a different type of head strap without a battery and just wrapped a couple of velcro straps around the central head strap at the very rear and did the same with a 10,000mAh battery pack so I could essentially stick it on the back of my head and connect with a 30cm USB C cable. Worked great and offered good weight at the rear for balance.
  3. 1. I would definitely recommend a new facial interface along with a replacement head strap. If you are sitting for MSFS only and you have a USB power source close enough by, you don't need a battery head strap since you can just run a USB cable for power if you are planning on flying for more than 2 hours. Having said that, I would recommend a battery head strap as the extra weight of the battery will help balance the headset instead of it being front heavy. I picked up a cheap battery head strap that works really well but wasn't quite heavy enough so I add some extra weights to it for make the headset perfectly balanced. https://www.amazon.co.uk/AMVR-Compatible-Accessories-Replacement-Breathable/dp/B0CNYGQ1SF https://www.amazon.co.uk/ARCELI-Compatible-Adjustable-One-click-Enhanced/dp/B0CL9BNJ8D I got the above head strap although I actually bought it on new on eBay for a good bit less. Adds an extra couple of hours runtime if you want, it very comfy and there are no buzzing noises. 2. Haven't had the need to clean the lenses yet as I avoid any contact with them but a soft dry cloth is probably best given the lenses aren't glass.
  4. Just on the above, I'm using my ISP issued Wifi 5 router and Virtual Desktop works flawlessly. You are largely dependent on distance from router and interference. If you don't have a lot of nearby wireless networks and competing devices then you should be able to maintain a steady connection.
  5. Looks like no further updates on potential of orders being fulfilled?
  6. Definitely recommend Virtual Desktop here as well. Don't use Oculus or SteamVR software, just Virtual Desktop and select the VDXR runtime in the streamer as this is the most performant option. OpenXR Toolkit is optional but recommended as it will let you tweak your VR image. For your GPU, I would recommend running the headset at 72Hz and enable SSW in Virtual Desktop. This will give you some headroom to supersample the image i.e. increase the image resolution to add some clarity and detail.
  7. If the base light model was a smaller size or had local dimming, I probably would have preordered. Will hold off for reviews and consider the 899 model.
  8. Was it this one? If so, I can patch it for the RJ too. https://flightsim.to/file/34214/bae-146-100-bea-retro-g-avro
  9. Yup, puts me in the same boat. Would love it to have side out tracking.
  10. I'm hoping Somnium are soliciting feedback from others regarding flight sim use and not just Steve though. Everyone has their own wishlist when it comes to VR and ideally you want more than one voice to help shape the final product.
  11. Yup, without any performance overlay, you won't be able to see exactly how much a performance improvement the VDXR plugin provides but it is certainly more efficient that having SteamVR in the mix. Can you share what your settings are in sim and Virtual Desktop so we can recommend some options? It's a balancing act, you need to improve performance in certain areas to give enough headroom to improve the clarity. Just to set expectations, the distance will never be as clear as on a monitor, or even a VR headset with native display port connection you can get it to be good quality.
  12. Okay, first thing I would do is make sure you are not running SteamVR and select VDXR as the runtime in Virtual Desktop. That should give you a noticeable improvement in performance. Enable the Overlay in either OpenXR Toolkit or Virtual Desktop (or both) and see what kind of fps you are getting. I would look to be running DLSS Balanced mode in MSFS VR Graphics settings and see how the performance is. Once we have that as a baseline, we can suggest things that will improve both clarity and performance.
  13. Can you post your set up including cpu and headset and which tools/apps/settings you are using?
  14. While I haven't tried this app, one of the issues of using a Webcam previously with Opentrack software was poor lighting, you couldn't use it in the dark or poor lighting and get decent results. It was the reason I opted for Tobii which works flawlessly in this regard since it uses IR. Has anyone tried this in poor lighting?
  15. Or if you think Bitdefender was the culprit, set the community folder as an exclusion. I think Bitdefender will quarantine as opposed to straight up delete files so you can check the quarantine list and restore or delete files from there.
  16. It should be posted in: https://www.avsim.com/forums/forum/863-microsoft-flight-simulator-2020/
  17. The IPD is actually the world scale setting under the Appearance tab. FOV is found under the System tab. https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/features https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/other-features.html
  18. Isn't this what the World Scale option in MSFS does?
  19. It's certainly not needed and the fewer components you have in the chain, the better imho. Having said that, I use the toolkit and do recommend it for a few reasons such as overriding the resolution, fixed foveated rendering, reducing the FOV a little and some colour tweaks.
