August 27, 2025Aug 27 We're leaving the Denver for a quiet relaxing week in very far northern Montana. We depart Rocky Mountain Metro (KBJC) and file the MRSHH2 XXWNG departure, FCA (Glacier Park), and land at 01MT. I've picked up scenery for BJC via Orbx (they just patched it and it's really good now), and freeware 01MT scenery available at flightsim.to. Prepare for boarding Fabulous livery by TimHH! It's quite murky here in Denver, our initial departure has us making a right turn off RY30R and stopping at 8000 for quite a few miles, so we'll be stuck in the soup and bumps. BJC by Propair (available on Orbx), is one of the rare payware airports to feature correctly designed windsocks (FAA spec is all orange instead of the ICAO orange and white) I think this is Longmont KLMO airport - I felt so low but the departure keeps us under the KDEN departures and arrivals Finally we get our climb instructions! The Honeywell Epic seems to be the black sheep in MSFS. I think because there's hardly any tutorials for it - but it's pretty powerful avionics and I enjoy it! (That doesn't mean I'd say no to a G3000 Prime LOL). The PC24 is capable of VNAV, LPV WAAS approaches and has an auto throttle as well. It's not extremely fast but it has a great climb rate and is happy up in the lower FL400's. Coming out of the soup on the backside of the Colorado Rockies We're cruising today at FL430 - the flight should last around 2.5 hours The Pathfinder Reservoir just southwest of Casper, WY. Some pretty high peaks in this area (sub 13k) near Red Lodge Montana Passing Helena, MT (KHLN) Coming up on the Continental Divide of the USA. This area separates flow of water, west goes to the Pacific Ocean, and east, to the Atlantic. We also begin our descent towards Kalispell/Glacier Park and ultimately Crystal Lakes Airport! Just about to pass KGPI The lowest altitude Air Traffic Control can issue us is 12,500 ft - it's a nice day so we cancel IFR and maneuver visually for a VFR approach - there are no Instrument Approach Procedures (IAPs) here. I see where the name Crystal Lakes comes from 01MT is not a small runway by any means, it can support most types of business jets with a runway 5000x70 ft. It lies at 3141 ft msl so it's not particularly high altitude either. It's a great place to visit! There's plenty to do here! Maybe visit the air museum, hit the links, or relax by the lakeside? Or maybe just visit with friends and family at the resort enjoying a beautiful dinner... | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
August 29, 2025Aug 29 Wonderful trip and pictures...and something to remember for a long time...🙂... Loved the exclusive boarding area in shot #1...You mean no (long) security lines and no hustle to board the airplane...🙂... Yes, Honeywell Epic is nice...I think the Dornier Seastar Amphibian that I flew recently had it... You end with a couple of nice shots, with that Jeep Wagoneer waiting to take you to the wilderness ...
