Tire Smoke GONE

Featured Replies

I've researched this on Google and it certainly has been talked about, but no one has ever come up with a solution.  It seems that for a long time now (not sure how long really) I've noticed  that when I land in P3dv5.4, there are no longer any tire smoke effects.  I've tried looking in the config and I see no real setting for this kind of effect.  I used to have it in the past, but no longer. I tried deleting my old config and building a new one.  I have the very latest Nvidia video drivers, and everything is up to date.

Have any of you ever had this issue and solved it?

What GFX card are you using ?

Personally I've not experienced the issue, however I don't have a 5000 series GFX card, nor do I run 5.4 (4.5 & 5.3).

Otherwise if the issue is a related to just a particular aircraft, then you'd need to look at what that aircraft has installed in the way of effects.

Cheers

There was someone that posted on this forum a couple months ago that all special effects (which includes tire smoke) no longer worked when they upgraded to a brand new GPU.  It could be that if you have a new generation GPU, it may not yet fully support P3D.

You know...You're right!  This just started happening with my new system and THIS CARD:

Graphics Processor:         16GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080

That explains it...Thank you.

You're welcome.  As I remember it, the person I was talking about that had missing special effects, his card was an RTX 5000 series GPU.  It may take some time for Nvidia to add full support for P3D.  All you can do is keep updating your drivers every time a new one comes out.  Hopefully they will get it fixed eventually.

Effects in the background 5.4, 5080 info on the task manager, latest drivers as far as I'm aware, try removing the shader cache (C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5\Shaders)
