Audio setup options

Greetings

I need some help to understand how I can connect 4 speakers to my PC, and I want to separate different sounds like engines sound to 2 rear speakers, and other sounds to 2 front speakers etc.

So to achieve this, do I need external sound card(s), or I can just use either a receiver, amps or an audio interface? So this part I still don't get it. I googled that people use different types of audio setups. I don’t want to spend money on devices I don’t need and I don’t understand what they are for.

I read about receivers, amps and interface, but it is very confusing. I just need some help to pony me to a right direction.

I currently have PC, 4K TV and I use TVs speaker ad a default audio device.

Thanks for looking.

There are different ways to organize audio system. For surround speakers I will need an AV receiver to connect non powered speakers. AV receiver is then connected to via HDMI cable to my 4KTV.
For powered speakers I can just connect them to PC directly via analog line.
If I want an additional audio channel, then I may need an external USB sound card connected to a amplifier.
I had issues to understand how to connect all these audio hardware and a purpose of them.
