Mini PC for 2020

Featured Replies

I'm thinking about abandoning my older tower desk top and going with these new mini pc's.  Mainly to do simple things and internet access, but I would love to devote a large block of hard drive to my FS2020, (not ready to make the switch).  Prices are coming down and Amazon has some interesting sales.  Any thoughts on what does and doesn't work with this setup and what to look for.  My current machine Has a Ryzen 7, my system is a little better than the minimums for 2020.

Thanks

What about a Play Station? 😔

The vast majority of cheaper (<$300) mini pcs won’t have a powerful GPU and won’t work well or at all with 2020 or any other modern game.

If you are willing to spend significantly more you can find mini pcs with laptop-class 4070 type GPUs but they are a LOT more expensive and it doesn’t really make sense to buy one unless you’re really really wanting a small PC.

Might make more sense to get an SFF size which is still small, but can usually fit a full size GPU. Also not cheap though.

Mini PC is great for everything else you mentioned but not high end AAA gaming.

Thanks for all the info, I was kinda thinking that was the case, not really cheaper nor worth the effort.

I recently built a 7950X3D/4090 in JONSPLUS Z20 mATX case. https://www.amazon.com/JONSPLUS-Micro-ATX-Detachable-High-Performance-Compatible/dp/B0CWQK3LMB?th=1

Not exactly mini, but from what I learned from building in this case, I would say it's pretty much as small as a case can go with a full size GPU.
