October 1, 2025Oct 1 Hi all, I have a Geforce RTX 3090 GPU and a monitor with a resolution of 1920*1080 As a gift for my father I want to give him a solid PC that will allow him the best possible experience when playing FS2024 (Based on the RTX3090 and the 1920*1080 monitor). I read in https://www.flightsimulator.com/microsoft-flight-simulator-2024/ that the ideal requirements is 64GB of RAM and an Intel Core i7-14700K CPU. Is that really necessary for a monitor with a resolution of 1920*1080 ? Maybe someone here have some tips regarding this topic ?
October 1, 2025Oct 1 On a low-res monitor, your 3090 won't be a limiting factor--the CPU will be. Assuming that the 1920x1080 display is not a variable refresh rate monitor (e.g. G-Sync, G-Sync compatible or Freesync), what you want is a system that can reliably produce frames at the native horizontal refresh rate of the monitor (usually 50 or 60 fps for older ones) to minimize stuttering. With complex add-ons, a fairly powerful CPU is required to hit that target. You should be able to pick up an AMD 7800X3D CPU for around the same price as the 14700K...I would personally go with that for it's super-sized cache and the ability to keep it cool with a fairly modest CPU cooler due to it's lower power consumption/heat generation. 64GB of RAM isn't a necessity--32GB would work in most cases, but if you think he might find himself running complex scenery and acft add-ons, 64GB isn't a huge expense. October 2, 2025Oct 2 Best CPU is the AMD X3D CPU's. Don't even consider Intel Pete Richards I've owned every version of flight simulator since Flight Simulator 3.0 in 1988. October 29, 2025Oct 29 I have had the 7800x3d since shortly after it was available. I use it with a 5070ti, 64 ram and a 49" monitor at max res. I am still very happy with this cpu. If they are still available i imagine the price has got pretty decent now.
