Throttle axis suddenly no longer working

Featured Replies

Strange issue cropped up suddenly today out of nowhere.  My throttle axis is no longer working in MSFS 2020 and 2024.  I searched for other bindings or assists that may affect this but cannot find anything that conflicts.   I tried mapping my warthog axis to the mixture and it works fine.  Mapping any other hardware axis to the throttle does not work.  If I use the mouse to move the throttle, it does move but immediately resets as if there was a binding conflict.

This occurs with all aircraft.

Any ideas?

Does it work in Windows game controller window? If not, try another usb port. If this does not work, try another computer. If this does not work, it's most likely a broken throttle.

Since it immediately pops back when using the mouse I'd suspect a binding issue, though it seems odd to happen at the same time in both sims, and I'm assuming any aircraft in 2024 or have you only tried one (mentioning since 2024 can have per aircraft profiles if you didn't set one as the global default).  You could try searching that throttle axis you're trying to bind in each of the devices in the mapping screens to see if one of them accidentally had a binding added.  You could narrow it down by just checking devices with an axis or an always on toggle switch such as the ones on the Honeycomb controllers where it flips between 2+ positions and isn't just a momentary push button.

Since it IS happening in multiple sim versions though, follow "flyforever's" suggestion of checking the axis in the windows game controller window first to make sure it's actually working.

I have seen this behavior. I launch the thrustmaster software to see if it is detected in there and then it starts working normally again.

The axis movement shows up in the controller settings in the sim and in Windows.  It absolutely seems to me like a binding issue but I haven't found any conflicts with any other devices.  I did try installing and running the Thrustmaster software (I assume you mean "Target GUI") and that did not help.

I'm stumped right now, but thanks for chiming in.

I've had some infrequent strange phantom axis issues similar to this--I found that cycling through the controller profiles back to the desired one fixed it in every case.  I suspect it's something gone wonky in the application of the cloud-based profile.

Well, call me stupid.

I have a switch bound to hold reverse thrust and it was activated and I didn't notice it.  All fixed now.

Thanks, guys, for the help.
