EGFF Cardiff in MSFS 2024

Featured Replies

I have just noticed that the hand crafted version of EGFF Cardiff in MSFS 2024 does not have a visible runway centreline. In addition, Porthkerry railway viaduct has disappeared. This was definitely there in MSFS 2020, and seemed to be part of the airport scenery. I really hope that this has not been removed because there is a PG version

RESOLVED - I installed the MSFS 2020 hand crafted version, and disabled the MSFS 2024 version. The Porthkerry railway viaduct model has returned, and it is in the correct position and elevation

I can also use the UK2000 version of the airport with the hand crafted version enabled. The former excludes everything in the hand crafted version......except Porthkerry railway viaduct

So you finally bought MSFS 2024?  Congrats, now stop using MSFS 2020 scenery or suffer missing objects and FPS issues. 🙂

I have far too many good quality MSFS 2020 airports to stop using them, Rob  I am enjoying my test flights so far, and working my way slowly through the list in the PMDG 737-800. I will report any "anomalies" as I go. I have already noted a terrain elevation problem at UK2000 EGGD Bristol, and this has been reported to Gary.

Yeah, some will work well, some may have issues ... if you get objects that are far too close to POV to not be rendered earlier, then you'll know.  Very low FPS will also be another clue on how well the MSFS 2020 airport is working in MSFS 2024.  But as always ... the compatibility ball and chain ... hopefully MSFS is bringing enough revenue to motivate airport content providers to update those airports that need it.

On a side note, can anyone who uses IniBuilds EGHI Southampton in MSFS 2024 check if you can see the following issues?

  • blurry taxiway sign textures (also visible at IniBuilds EGGW Luton)
  • half brown/half green terrain textures. This results in procedural grass etc in the green areas, but the brown areas look like smooth plastic, with no 3D procedural effects at all
