February 6Feb 6 Forgive me if that sounds like click bait. Something I discovered a few weeks ago that really does help with reading Avsim forums, which is why I'm posting it here. If you're like me, you open a forum main page, then open each unread thread by right clicking on the little icon that shows new posts and selecting "open in new tab" so you can set up to read all the new threads without leaving the main window. I discovered that if you middle click (press the mouse scroll wheel) it automatically opens the link in a new tab with only one click. This works in every browser I've tried, and with every link. I've found it especially useful in YouTube. At least I didn't title the thread, "Speed up your forum browsing using this one weird trick they don't want you to know!" I personally speed up my own browsing by never clicking on such links. 😄 Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
February 6Feb 6 Author If you press and hold the middle mouse button you can scroll a page by moving the mouse. Very useful if you do a lot of scrolling. If you click the middle mouse button on an empty part of a browser page, it activates mouse scrolling until you click the button again. I just now discovered that if you want to close a tab, instead of trying to click on the tiny "x" you can middle click anywhere on the tab to close that tab, or close the browser if you do this on the last open tab. Too cool! 😄 Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
February 6Feb 6 Thanks a lot! Too bad the touchpad in my current laptop (specs in signature) doesn't have something to simulate middle-click. I remember 3 laptops ago (a Toshiba Portégé R835) had an utility to set up what to do with touchpad borders and corners, and I assigned one of them to the middle click. 6 hours ago, LHookins said: I just now discovered that if you want to close a tab, instead of trying to click on the tiny "x" you can middle click anywhere on the tab to close that tab, or close the browser if you do this on the last open tab. Thanks to you, I've just discovered it too 😁 Best regards,Luis Hernández Main rig: self built, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D (with SMT off and CO -50 mV), 2x16 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, Nvidia RTX 5060Ti 16GB, 256 GB M.2 SSD (OS+apps) + 2x1 TB SATA III SSD (sims) + 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD (storage), ID-Cooling SE-224-XTS air cooler, Viewsonic VX2458-MHD 1920x1080@120-144 Hz (G-sync compatible), Windows 11.
