Help for MSFS 2024 a/c specific key bindings?

Featured Replies

I’m still trying to fully understand the MS/Asobo control assignment logic (after five years…).

In MSFS 2024, each aircraft comes with predefined cockpit instrument views, typically bound as:

  • Toggle Instrument View 1 → Ctrl+1

  • Toggle Instrument View 2 → Ctrl+2

  • Toggle Instrument View 3 → Ctrl+3

  • etc.

What I would like to achieve is an aircraft-specific keyboard binding. Example:

  • In Aircraft X: Pressing “M” triggers Toggle Instrument View 2

  • In Aircraft Y: Pressing “M” triggers Toggle Instrument View 4

In other words, same physical key, different function depending on the loaded aircraft.

I’ve tried creating separate control profiles and experimenting with aircraft-specific bindings, but so far I haven’t been able to get this working reliably.

Is this possible within the current MSFS 2024 control logic? If so, what is the recommended approach?

Any insights from those who’ve managed more granular per-aircraft bindings would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

It's absolutely possible, I use this all the time.

You need to set up separate "Aircraft profiles" (or "General profiles" if it's views) on the 'keyboard' section of the Controls page. Then, you only need to select that new keyboard profile once with the specific aircraft loaded, and MSFS 2024 will remember it and load it automatically next time.

I use AAO for most custom key assignments for the AP in different complex addons.  In some, I have to remove the default AP assignments, hence I set these different keyboard profiles up.

Eg.   when I load up in the PMDG 737, my keyboard profile called "PMDG Keys" automatically loads.   If my next flight is in the TFDi MD-11, then the keyboard profile called "TFDi keys" automatically loads, when I load the plane.

As your case concerns views rather than aircraft functions, it will be the 'General' keyboard profiles that you'll need to set up for each aircraft.
