im coming from FSX/P3D where you could here other ai pilots switching frequencies, asking for landing/takeoff clearance, taxi, hold short, vectors, report aircraft in sight, etc. Does atc only communicate with the user in 2024? 

IMO, default ATC in FS2020/2024 is far worse than it was in FSX. Sayintentions and beyondatc do a better job in regards to the user, but as far as Injected traffic goes, none of those options are better than default FSX. For now hopefully.

I would figure a full fleshed or even semi full fleshed ATC would be possible in 2026. I am certain multiplayer integrated ATC is possible.

I would say realistic aircraft movement on the ground, and the landings and takeoffs aren't the best. Realistic separation and vectors is a lot more time consuming I'm guessing.

Out of all the topics that come up here at AVSIM, the ones about ATC and our beloved MSFS 2024 sim, this one always makes me want to express my thoughts!

I've been testing MSFS 2024 SU4 for about two weeks and I feel that we are getting closer to having the perfect sim. If there is one thing that I would like to see fixed it's the ATC system. I'd like to for the dev to fix it's VFR & IFR capabilities, the handling of Airliners and GA aircraft, the decision of which runway to use, and just the ability for me to hear the ATC chatter when I'm in a congested airspace. Sometimes I hear nothing!

As has been stated, FSX had a more functional ATC system.

I just have one question for the dev team, if you have not been focusing on ATC & AI Traffic, why not? You did not fix the ATC in v2020 and you have neglected to do it in v2024. Please start working on this important component of having a flightsim that is as real at it gets.

It's actually pathetic that I still have to go looking into an ap like AI Smooth & AI Flow try to improve the default ATC system.

I hope that they get to this soon!

I feel that Beyondatc is very close to having a visually great ATC system. They just need to fix and adjust how the aircraft move on the ground, and on takeoff/landing.

 

Aircraft pulling into the gate at 20 knots and stopping on a dime is definitely not an immersive feeling.

One big request id make is prioritize major airports on the list on the ATC menu. When VFR trying to find KHOU or KEFD in a sea of chemical plant helipads, hospitals, fire stations, NASA, and even a community college... is a nightmare
