February 13Feb 13 New to msfs 2024. ATC doesnt talk to other aircraft or ai planes, only giving me instructions. Is this right? im coming from FSX/P3D where you could here other ai pilots switching frequencies, asking for landing/takeoff clearance, taxi, hold short, vectors, report aircraft in sight, etc. Does atc only communicate with the user in 2024?
February 13Feb 13 nope. not right. did you enable live traffic / players and see them at all? forgot to add: welcome to party! good choice and move to 2024! February 13Feb 13 Author I can see them, just cant hear them. I had been researching like a mad man. I believe the conclusion is ATC will give traffic advisory, "follow aircraft on final", "hold short for other aircraft", but i wont actually hear the ai pilot on the comms? - live traffic, but multiplayer off for now I assume now sayintentions or beyondatc is the only way to get the radio chatter from other ai pilots?

February 13Feb 13 Author Okay, yeah i hear only tower on takeoff for other planes. No departures, approach, or ground is coming through for ai airplanes. Better than nothing i suppose, hopefully it is a glitch like you stated.
February 13Feb 13 If all you're only looking for is voices, go to Stick & Rdder Studios. The have a simple user friendly program under $20 with thousands of actual ATC clips you can play during your session. The number of clips, geographic areas and volume are scaleable. Have used them fior years. They also add new voices regulatly. https://stickandrudderstudios.com/ Edited February 13Feb 13 by vp49p3 Forever indebted to the late Michael Greenblatt of FSGS.

If all you want is other ATC and pilot voices etc, it is a great little app. Cannot recommend it enough to add to the sound environment. I believe it has a trial version too. February 13Feb 13 Author Limited to the marketplace currently with console. I suppose i wouldnt be surprised if ATC was limited for ai. i do appreciate the advice. Some ATC updates would be nice for the core simmers that dont third party!
February 13Feb 13 If you ever get around to using 3rd party I can heartily recommend BATC which includes all traffic it manages so the chatter is relevant to your specific scenario which is nice. Its free voices are decent though I pay for Premium voices, but deselect traffic such that other ATC chatter is not using Premium voices, so it's not too pricey to get really great sounding captains voices. Also, stickandrudderstudios is using LiveATC's content and anyone can do that for free (liveatc.net), and I use it as well to add to BATC's, choosing the matching geo region I'm in. February 14Feb 14 Author Maybe i am naive, but i would think getting clearance, taxi, advisories, departures, and arrivals with other ai aircraft would be high priority in 2026 for MSFS. I feel they might be leaning a little too heavy on third party to fill the void. The marketplace user base is growing thanks to PS5 and xbox.

Unsure if it was live traffic or generated traffic. Gonna still say my pipe dream is to have full ground to air comms for other flights. Having it for multiplayer planes would be really sweet, i have quite enjoyed seeing other players planes. Edited February 18Feb 18 by Sweetd31

What is lacking on the sayintentions and beyond atc side? I would figure a full fleshed or even semi full fleshed ATC would be possible in 2026. I am certain multiplayer integrated ATC is possible. I'm using FSHud - Air Traffic Control, it's completely "other world"! It's not related to the MSFS "code" limitation as you mentioned! I'm using it exactly because I can setup which 3rd Ai traffic sources I can use, or even all together (FSLTL, FS Traffic, AIG...) FSHud will take off all traffic, you will hear all conversation, beside of that it's have 2 COM radio as in real life and you can hear it both at the same time! On top of this Airport Manager - where you can config any airport according real life operation. I'm using it and very happy to see 70 active aircraft, vectors, speed restrictions and etc...
