February 20Feb 20 Im looking for the FS9 version of Ian Warren's NZCH scenery and since Flightsim.com is done/down, Im not finding it anywhere. Been searching for days. Anyone have that scenery that might send it to me? I have a very nice working FS9 and would really like to fly around NZ a bit. Have found quite a bit of the godzone stuff, and wish Id gotten it sooner. Very little of it remains online which is kind of sad. Its excellent stuff.
February 21Feb 21 Be patient and await the return of Flightsim.com. It hasn't gone for ever. The legality of asking people to send you files is questionable. John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org

Furthermore, I definitely don't remember the author's name nor have I ever searched for a possible better/newer version. Moreover, it seems that the above link provided by Steve0616, is somehow blocked because the actual download button doesn't seem to work but I could be doing something wrong myself. Has anyone actually been able to download it ? Regards Hans
February 22Feb 22 I downloaded and installed the scenery and then compared it to my existing version. It was the same one. So I don't know why it didn't work.

OK, Make sure to select the link for the airport below the download button for the photoscenery. – FS2004 Scenery–Christchurch Int’l Airport Some downloads do not work, but this one still does.
February 22Feb 22 Author John, Asking for what is "freeware" scenery, and what used to be available without license or restrictions isnt what I would call "questionable". For you it may be, but anything which is or was freely uploaded to any flight sim site is IMHO fair game. I would not ask if any of it was restricted or previously payware as that would be wrong. Sad as there is a lot of nice scenery for FS9 which was generated by very talented designers which is just lost at this point.

But I believe you are mistaken. It is worth reading-up about copyright law. Whilst products may be offered free of charge, they remain the property (and copyright) of the developer concerned, whose permission should be obtained before sharing. Sadly, as time passes, files do get lost. That's life. But the files on Flightsim.com are not lost, they will return. Fortunately on this occasion, another source seems to have been found to save you waiting for that. I cannot remember whether it was this forum or the one at Flightsim.com, but posts requesting the sharing of files used to regularly be removed. February 23Feb 23 Commercial Member Yes, it is common for freeware uploads to have some sort of license agreement, which may or may not exclude sharing of the file. I would be surprised if Ian included any such exclusion, and the 'readme' file in the download pointed to above didn't include any real conditions, except don't blame him if it damages something. I've spent a lot of energy over the years fighting for the rights of flightsim developers, freeware and payware, but nowadays I just want people to not steal stuff, and not put their name on something they didn't create. I would hate to see Ian's work disappear, it was his scenery which first got me interested in flightsim scenery design 25 years ago -- in particular his NZCH, my local. I'm not sure what is going on with Flightsim.com, but I do hope that his scenery isn't lost for good. Ian died in 2017, and the flightsim community lost a good one there. People throw around things like 'generous to a fault', but really, that was Ian. Rest in peace, my friend.

The Flightsom.com temporary home page is very clear in explaining that the downloads will be available agan once the rebuild of the site is complete.
