a2a stable of airplanes refuse to accept my simconnect versions, or perhaps I should say sometimes they work, but mostly not.  These are the freely downloadable simconnect versions available to everyone.  I have all of the simconnect versions.  I'd like to say I downloaded all from Just Flight recently, but I already had every one of the files.

It's only a2a planes.  No joy at a2a forums, I'm told it's my fault for still using FSX/A.  That may or may not be since I'm now using Windows 11, but that's now how I purchased the planes.

These planes worked perfectly with FSX/A when I was using Windows 7 64.

I don't have the time to invest in another (newer) simulation, so that's not an option.

 

People are finding out that Windows 11 is causing all kinds of new bugs with FSX and some FSX addons.  This may be one of them.  If you don't have FSX: Steam, I recommend you get it, it has a lot less problems than the box version of FSX.  If you wait for a sale, you can buy FSX: Steam for $5.  It is worth it because FSX:SE has a lot of bugs fixed that the box version doesn't have, and it has less problems on Windows 11.  It is more likely that your A2A planes will work fine on FSX:SE.

I'm the recipient of that terrible response from a2a. Nowhere on my receipts does it say that the planes I purchased may not work with windows software and FSX box, and that a different iteration of FSX may be required.

FSX-SE is not the answer they should respond with, it's a cop out. Suggesting that a totally different game is the solution is low rent.

I understand your frustration, but the truth is that A2A is finished with updating its old FSX aircraft and they will not do anything to fix a problem only caused by the old box version of FSX at this point.

Most people that still use FSX use the Steam version now days. In fact, it's not even possible to activate the box version of FSX anymore because Microsoft shut the old activation servers down so if you ever need to reinstall it again, you're out of luck.

The Steam version is not a "different" flight simulator, it is basically the same as the box version (with SP2 + Acceleration) except with a lot of bug fixes as well as some performance related improvements. It also doesn't need to be activated when you install it.

If you want to keep using FSX in the future with Windows 11, getting the Steam version is a very good idea. It will fix a lot of headaches for you.
