2024 & Pop Out Panels

Featured Replies

As most of will know, certainly with every sim I have used, from FSX through P3D to MSFS, whenever I have popped out an instrument panel, the frames have 'tanked.' Usually about 30% for the first panel popped out, and then reduced frames for every other panel that is popped out. Can anyone tell me if this 'bug' is still present in 2024?

I had this problem but solved it by turning off any frame rate limitations and optimizations for MSFS 2024 in the AMD settings (I have a RX 9070 XT card), turning off auto FPS in the ingame settings and using the monitor out connections on my motherboard, so the built in GPU on the CPU does the output. Smooth as silk now, even in the Fenix with all 4 main displays popped out.

This is odd, because the 'hit' comes as soon as the panel is popped off the MIP, it doesn't matter if it's dragged across to another monitor. At least this has always been my experience. Are you saying this is not the case?

To be perfectly honest, I did all the changes at once and it worked for me, so I haven't tested incremental settings that well really. But I suspect the problem is mainly some sort of FPS limiter and/or VSYNC.

I don't think I ever saw a decrease in frames from popping out a panel. In 2024 I use pop out manager to pop out my panels on second monitor. My frames don't change nor do I see a change in performance. But I usually don't fly watching frame rate counter, but I'll take notice on my next flight to see if there are any changes caused by pop out panels.
