My first ever WASM crash and it wasn't in inibuilds plane.

Featured Replies

I wouldn't do anything for just one event.  If it starts happening repeatedly, then I'd probably clear out the WASM cache and reinstall the aircraft and the nav data.

Do be prepared that there may be nothing you can do yourself that will fix a WASM crash.

The most likely reason for a WASM crash is that there's some bug in the WASM module's code. This is up to the addon developer to fix. So it can't hurt to get in touch with PMDG (in this case) and report the error to them. They may come back asking for additional information or log files.

The pesky thing about WASM crashes is that they don't always reproduce reliably. Some of them do, and if you fly the same flight again, you'll get a crash at the same point in the flight. But many crashes don't reproduce; you could fly the same flight without changing anything about your system, do everything exactly the same, yet everything will be fine. You might make many, many flights before the bug that's responsible for the crash rears its ugly head again. This can make it really hard for an addon developer to pinpoint exactly what caused the crash and fix it, but it's still a good idea to get in touch. Over time, they may spot a pattern in the crash reports from different users that helps them figure out what's going on.

WASM crashes are super frustrating. They ruin a flight and rob you of the satisfaction of getting to your destination. We want to believe that there is something we can do to prevent the crash reoccuring. But be prepared for the possibility that the only thing that may ultimately fix the crash is an update from the developer.

In the meantime, blue skies, happy landings, and fingers crossed that the issue doesn't reoccur.

I haven't had a single WASM crash for the entire history of MSFS2020/MSFS2024 (I have owned both Fenix and PMDGs during those times). Two weeks ago I got my first ever WASM crash with PMDG 738 after the most recent update from the publisher. Their forum is literally flooded with posts such as "my first ever WASM crash in MSFS2024" , but Matthias is being Matthias.

In the meantime, I cleared WASM folder and made two successful flights with 738 and 739. We'll see how it will go further.

And yes, the first 2603 Navdata iteration had a bug (according to BATC), so eventually Navigraph released the update. Go to your Navdata App and Update/Reinstall (after clearing WASM folder first).
