Help deleting custom Newquay scenery

Featured Replies

In the avsim library there is a scenery for Newquay airport (EGHQ). It is a P3Dv4 scenery, but I wanted to try it out in P3Dv5.4. It did work in P3Dv5.4 but I didn't like it that much, so I uninstalled it. The scenery had SODE files for runway lights and some other things. Now after I uninstalled the scenery I went to the default Newquay airport and there are red X's where the custom SODE things was. Since I deleted the scenery why is there SODE red X's at the default scenery? How do I get rid of them?

Edit: The scenery filename is Newquay_Airport__EGHQ.zip

Did you delete the SODE files too?

SODE files are stored in:-

C:\ProgramData\12bPilot\SODE\xml\

Find the ones relating to Newquay and delete (or rename) them.

If the red X signs remain then you missed some. Search for anything with EGHQ in the title.

I just checked for leftover SODE files and didn't find any. The scenery was installed with an exe file so maybe there was a file installed somewhere that I don't know about.

Edit: to uninstall the scenery I used IObit uninstaller which usually gets everything including registry files.

Look for a EGHQ folder in the SODE folder. Never heard of that uninstaller.

Sort the xml folder in descending date order. Most recent will be at the top.

I was curious enough to download and install. There's a folder in the SIMOBJECTS folde named SWSCENERY_EGHQX.

That contains multiple SODE folders each containing those objects.

Thank you Ray. I found the SODE file. It was named SODE_EGHQ. When I was looking for the SODE xml file I was looking for files starting with EGHQ or Newquay not SODE. That is why I didn't see the file the first time I was looking for leftover files.

Edit: i have been using IObit for a long time now. IMO It is really good

I deleted that folder already when I first uninstalled the scenery.

So is the problem solved? With no SODE objects you shouldn’t be seeing any Red Xs.

Yes, the problem is solved. it was a SODE xml file that wasn't deleted. The xml file was named SODE_EGHQ. When I was looking for SODE xml files associated with the scenery I was looking for files starting with EGHQ or Newquay not SODE. That is why I didn't see the file the first time I was looking for leftover files.

It is strange that the company is presented as Chinese, yet the official website is Russian. I suspect that Russians may be masking their development under a Chinese brand.

@Jla6yx, i wouldn’t touch something like that with a bargepole. The author of the Newquay scenery provided an uninstaller in the parent folder.

Registry is rarely touched for P3D scenery.

Understood but it’s a decent free offering. Did it not appeal?
