A Canadian in New York

I'm a little bummed the screenshots are tiny with the new forum upgrade, but I still wanted to post. Enjoy this VFR flight from Teterboro (KTEB v2 from Dreamflight) to Montauk (KMTP freeware) at the end of Long Island. We'll cruise at 3500 for most of the way - it's a bit bumpy but we've got a nice tailwind and the Legacy can easily stay in the green arc at 220 KIAS! This is the new Flysimware Legacy - it is still a beta so there are a couple bugs. The most recent update has significantly improved it though! This livery is a default paint and it is simply incredible :)

I love the way it flies (yes it had some issues on release, they seem fixed now), the sounds are spot on, the visuals are stunning. It's capable of failures and wear accumulation etc. The Lancair Legacy (LEG2 for aircraft type) is an excellent tourer especially if you need to put some distance behind you hehe. It is equipped with O2 as well. If you use the TDS GTNxi be sure to update via GPS Manager as there has been a significant update to how the GTNxi interacts with the G3X - it's much improved. I think the PMS50 also had an update... so always just make sure your GPS's are up to date. Additionally there is a turbocharged engine variant (sort of a WIP still) and an analog panel coming free a little bit later... it appears to support the GNS and GTN/GTNxi.

Enough yapping! Let's go flying!

(edit) I found a way to individually adjust the images... it makes them larger but it also appears to blur them quite a bit... hmmm not sure what is better. I'll try this larger option for now

(edit again) disregard - the forum overrides and shrinks them - they are clear and sharp but super tiny argh!

An overly dramatic climbing shot - it had nice lighting on our very capable IFR panel

Doing around 215-220 knots indicated... ends up being around 225-230 true! And then with the ground speed we averaged around 260 knots! Crazy! I love the VFR sectional charts too!

While it's a bit gusty it is a great day to fly

Approaching MTP there is a marine layer so we'll contact NY approach for a popup IFR

They give us a vector outside of ANIJE for the straight-in RNAV 06 - the winds were supposed to be light at the airport but we'll see

We had briefed the approach - we may require a circle to land

We definitely should have circled... the 3200 ft runway is a little tight especially with the tailwind we had hehe - but we made it down with and the brakes did their job

MTP is kinda cool - you taxi through a sea of trees and bushes on the way to the ramp... can't really see the runway

All in all we're safe on the ground. Where to next?

Ryan, these screenies are really superb. And the plane looks great. I really love the G3X with the sectional charts included. That said, this plane might be my next purchase.

Best regards,
Holger
