May 23May 23 Flying the normally aspirated Legacy with the payware PMS GTN750. I chose the PMS because I find the VNAV capabilities work more realistically and reliably than in the TDS version. The TDS definitely has better visuals but operation is more important to me.We flew from Beverly Regional, near Boston in MA to Stewart Internationl in NY. Winds were calm which equalized the TAS and GS. Flying at 9,500, most of the flight was with a MP of 18 and 2400RPMs. I went to WOT for a few minutes to see what TAS I could get out of the NA version of the plane at this altitude. The answer - 263kts TAS! From a single engine piston. This plane is FAST by any measure!The beautiful cockpit environment of the FSW Legacy. G3X combined with correctly configured PMS (payware in this case) GTN750 makes this a dream to operate. We were VFR but Stewart kindly allowed us to fly a 'practice' RNAV 09 approach. The VNAV descent performed flawlessly and got us to the FAF at the correct altitude. From there, APP mode was engaged on the GMC305 control panel. As we were in GPS mode, this resulted in perfect NAV/GP coupled guidance.Cruising at 9,500, VFR263kts TAS ! Wide open throttle (21 MP) at 9,500 in the normally-aspirated LegacyDo I recommend this plane? Heck yeah!
