So I'm late to this party, having only heard about the event from some streamers this week, but man what a crazy airshow they've put together! Just a constant stream of planes and some very interesting ATC interaction; I was watching some videos about all the modified rules/FAA exceptions they get to make this possible, and it just seems so dangerous and reckless, but the scale is impressive to be sure.

Honestly I could post videos all day lol, there's some great 20-40 min videos of different content creators all coming into the event, so its hard to keep up with it all. Too bad MSFS2024 doesn't have anything going on this week at KOSH like the fireworks for July 4th.

So has anyone been to the show in previous years? Anyone going this year?

Gary Summons (UK2000) recently released KOSH Wittman Regional for MSFS 2020 and 2024. That is the standard airport scenery, but he is very keen to develop an Air Venture version at some point next year. That will take a considerable amount of time and preparation, which is why he has decided to do it separately from the main airport product release.

There is a scenery pack for 2020 on flightsim.to that has a lot of the Air Venture stuff there; apparently it does work in 2024 but the models aren't great looking, I'm going to hold off on it. The Author did post that he was trying to get a 2024 version up in time for this week's event, but that hasn't happened as of yet.

While the planes and people and tents would be nice to look at, I really moreso want the colored dots on the runways, just to see if I can practice a little of the a-typical landings you see this week. One big thing to watch out for when in the sequence for landing is that the dot you are cleared for may change suddenly depending on if the traffic behind you is faster than you or not. In the one video I watched, there was a King Air coming in behind a smaller SR20 (or similar) and the tower was screaming at the pilot to extend the landing to the next dot, you can hear the stall warnings howling in protest as he has to extend the float, it was pretty chaotic to watch, couldn't imagine the pressure IRL

The current UK2000 version includes the coloured dots on the runways.

Hey look at that, the default scenery also has some dots - I guess they're permanent. This is a nice airport for helo practice, there's a lot of targets to practice landing and plenty of open field for hovering
