Anyone tried the new 616.64 driver yet?

Featured Replies

There's also a new version of the Nvidia App that got downloaded this morning. The latest driver version on that app (on my system) is 616.64 which "activates DLSS 5 3D-Guided Neural Rendering in NBA 2K27..." Here's the link:

DLSS 5 3D-Guided Neural Rendering Debuts in NBA 2K27 | NVIDIA

Looks good, but I wonder what this does to performance on already packed VRAM configurations.

Halves your frame rates from what I can tell.

Please share sources. Thanks.

Type "dlss5 msfs" in youtube search bar. The results over multiple video reviews with DLSS5 are pretty graphics but with a huge drop in fps.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

Thanks, but the video I linked above provides some insight into the process that developers must go through in order to optimize performance and appearance of individual games. I haven't heard that Asobo has done this yet for MSFS, as it looks like a significant job. So those videos may be based on DLSS files "borrowed" from the NBA program. [Please consider everything I wrote there to totally tentative and provisional.]

No doubt there will be performance/quality trade-offs. We may need to hear from Asobo on this.

Game ready driver 616.92 is now out. Nothing that will affect MSFS from what I can tell and it primarily seems to be a WHQL update for the recent hotfix driver. I won't be installing this one having installed the hotfix.
