Question About Modifying Default VC Forward View

Recommended Posts

I have posted this question elsewhere and come up empty. What I'd like to be able to do is set a new default VC panel forward view so that when I start FS9.1 and go to my desired aircraft, the VC view for that specific panel will be set as I like it without having to adjust it every time (zoom, height, pitch, etc.). I am aware of the aircraft.cfg "eyepoint" setting and can make some of the needed adjustments there. I'm also aware of the panel.cfg "Views" section but the changes that are done there only affect the 2D panel view, not the VC.I have immersed myself in the SDKs but can't seem to find an answer. I'm going to be just fine if this isn't possible, but I'd like to know for sure.Below are two panel shots of the new Level-D 767 panel. The first shot shows the default VC forward view that pops up every time you start the aircraft and select VC view. The second is my preferred VC forward view. It takes several keystrokes to set it up each time but if I move around to set switches, etc. I can't return to this view when hitting the spacebar. I always have to readjust the pitch and height again. I'd like to be able to jump back to my modified VC view when I hit the spacebar. Can this be done?Default VC Forward Viewhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/110854.jpgDesired Default VC Forward Viewhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/110855.jpgDougDell XPS Gen3 (3.6GHz/800FSB)2GB DDR SDRAM74GB SATA, 10k RPM (C: ) & 120GB SATA (D: )256MB ATI Radeon X800 XT (Catalyst 5.1)Audigy 2 ZS Sound (latest drivers)MS Force Feedback 2WindowsXP Pro (SP2)DirectX 9.0c

Your only option is to edit the "eyepoint" entry in the aircraft.cfg file...

There is one other option if you have a registered version of FSUIPC. It basicaly sets a keyboard function to do multiple things. You need to read FSUIPC for advanced users ( comes w/zip ) and also FS2004 Controls.zip available from Pete Dawsons site. For instance - I always like my forward view to be around 75% zoom. FS9 has a problem that even though the FWD view is set in the panel.cfg, any time you hit "backspace" to reset view it will always revert back to 100% Zoom. So what I did is to set the "Backspace" to be trapped by FSUIPC then have FSUIPC to reset zoom to 100% and to decrease zoom 1 time which will give me 75%. Here's a FSUIPC.ini example -NOTE - REPLACE { } WITH BRACKETS{Keys} // AUTO RESET TO 0.75 ZOOM 0=8,8,65550,0,65655,00= the first entry in {Keys}8,8, = The BACKSPACE button65550 = The control # from FS2004 Controls.zip to reset zoom0 = a parameter which is not needed65655 = The control # from FS2004 Controls.zip to decrease zoom0 = a parameter which is not neededYou could also set up the .ini so it will just work for the LDS767, see the adv users doc. BE FORWARNED -- Adjusting almost anything in the aircraft.cfg (if you go that route) for the LDS767 will be overwritten each time you use the payload manager. To get by this make the changes in FS2004AircraftLVLD_B763MediaAircraftBasicInfo.cfg instead (after finding the right spot in the aircraft.cfg WITHOUT using the payload manager) so when the payload manager is used it will read the data from this file to write into the actual aircraft.cfg. Thanks Bill and Roman!I'll have to check out FSUIPC's keyboard function and see if I can make what I need happen. However I think after reading all this that all I'll be able to change is the zoom level, not pitch or height. Anyway, thanks for giving me something to think about!DougDell XPS Gen3 (3.6GHz/800FSB)2GB DDR SDRAM74GB SATA, 10k RPM (C: ) & 120GB SATA (D: )256MB ATI Radeon X800 XT (Catalyst 5.3)Audigy 2 ZS SoundMS Force Feedback 2WindowsXP Pro (SP2)DirectX 9.0c
