March 23, 200719 yr ok I have tons of planes for FSX now however one thing that bugs me is most of the stuff does not have working landing lights. Now I know where the code in the CFG file is to place the light but how do I add the light that gets displayed onto the ground so I can see the ground at night ? Ricci McCarty
March 23, 200719 yr Author Moderator You don't. The fx_landing.fx file MUST be Attached to a polygon in the MODEL itself. It cannot be added in via the aircraft.cfg file...IOW, it is ONLY possible to use this .fx file with FSX models that've been purpose designed to use it. Fr. March 23, 200719 yr So it's not possible to make a custom effect file that will shine light onto the ground and link it to a control? Ricci McCarty

March 23, 200719 yr Let me rephrase that then. Forget the landing lights. Is it possible to make an effect that produces light and shines it on the ground that can be connected to a control and used as a landing light ? Forget the fx_landing.fx Ricci McCarty
March 24, 200719 yr "Light" that can illuminate ground polygons is a special polygon (meaning actual geometry) that is a part of the model.
March 24, 200719 yr Author Moderator I'm not sure what part of "NO" was unclear, but...Just as a 'spotlight" requires a mirror-reflector, so to does any form of .fx "light" require a "reflector."In this case the "polygon" is essentially acting as a "mirror..."
