Featured Replies

I have tried a search of the forums but have had no luck. Is it possible to have helicopter AI? I have tried to create it using the usual 3rd party utilities but without success. Is it possible to acccieve this?ThanksSteve

Hi Steve,it's possible as a compromise, that is giving the choppers AI config files that allow for very short take-offs and landings. No hovering, I'm afraid. Also, you'll want to create custom AFCAD files for the "heliports" otherwise you'll have choppers taxiing amongst the big birds ;-)There are quite a number of add-on packages available in the library that include AI helicopters. I once uploaded a set of seven "starter kits" for a whole range of helicopter types. The set was made for FS2002 but the config files still work (the AFCADs don't, as the format has changed with FS9). The files contain pretty detailed instructions and tips on how to create your own config files. File names are aiheli_1.zip to aiheli_7.zip. Here's the direct link to the first package: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...heli&DLID=31474Have fun!Cheers, Holger

Thanks Holger,I had a feeling it would be fiddly.CheersSteve

There was a huge thread on the ProjectAI forums a year ago about helicopter AI. The biggest problem was the fact each helicopter took anamazing amount of tweaking to get to work as AI. Not just the aircraft.cfg but the .air file also. What worked for one helicopter design didn't work for another.I took a quick look on the ProjectAI forums but it looks like they either "cleaned house" or were hacked at some point and lost much of there archives. From what I remember by the end of the thread they had 6-8 payware and freeware helicopters working very well as AI.FaxCap
