May 13, 200422 yr I just uploaded some Cones.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/75839.jpg Taxi carefully!Stevehttp://mysite.freeserve.com/ysomdesign/banner.jpg My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://www.cafeshops.com/wrexhamspace
May 13, 200422 yr Cones!..............Cones!..................We don't need no stink'in cones!!!!!What we need is a Runcorn Bridge or a Fiddlers Ferry Power Station. Congrats man on being able to do these wonderful models for FLY!!.If a could make a request though a would like to see the lighting rigs you see at the end of runways. (you know the Red and White things) I think if you were able to do these in the 3 different heights they would really add some depth and perspective to the airport when coming in on approach.Just a thought!!Speak to you soon MateCheers John
May 13, 200422 yr Very nice, Steve. Have you thought of creating Taxiway and runway signs that are considerably larger( so they are more readable) than existing ones? When I fly online, those taxi signs would help. Also, does anyone know whether the taxiway letters can be applied to the "vectored" map ones?tony
May 13, 200422 yr :-lol Poor John!Maybe this will cheer you up ;-) http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/75873.jpgGreat minds think alikehttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/75874.jpg Cheers Stevehttp://mysite.freeserve.com/ysomdesign/banner.jpg My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://www.cafeshops.com/wrexhamspace
May 13, 200422 yr You can make them larger yourself with the built in model editor.Leave your finger on control while Fly loads and load the model you want and change its size. But, its something I have not ruled out :-) Stevehttp://mysite.freeserve.com/ysomdesign/banner.jpg My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://www.cafeshops.com/wrexhamspace
May 13, 200422 yr Steve,How many polys do these cones use? You might be able to make some "ligther" ones by using a technique similar to the one used for trees... Just an idea.Great job!http://www.avsim.com/hangar/fly/dfdg/banneraa.jpg
May 14, 200422 yr Something like this John?http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/75894.jpg http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/75895.jpgAlex, I still have no idea how to make trees yet.So I dont understand the method you talk about. Though Im sure I will soon pick it up from a tutorial somewhere.http://mysite.freeserve.com/ysomdesign/banner.jpg My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://www.cafeshops.com/wrexhamspace
May 14, 200422 yr G'day Steve, Think we may have found you a whole new job within the Fly! realm!! The work you've done so far is simply stunning! If you have TerraModels, check some of the folders within the main folder. I "discovered" some artwork and some models, but do not see a way to access them (Allen K??). Nothing generated within TM seems to call on these, so am curious if there's something I'm missing...But none-the-less... between plane repainting and this, WHOA!! Good job!Cheers! :-beerchugKen Wood :-sun1http://www.avsim.com/hangar/fly/dfdg/bannernewkw.jpgGateway 700X; Intel P4 2.4GHz; 512MB RAM; NVIDIA Ti4200 4X AGP 128MB; SB Audigy; Thrustmaster TopGun Fox 2 Pro Shock ___________________________ Kenneth E Wood Jr 🌪️🌩️ ex AG1, USN (14yr Vet) Weather Foecaster
May 14, 200422 yr Steve,For the trees, it consists of using two textures and placing them like this + (bird's eye view). For the cones I'd use just two textures, one for the bottom and then the other one applied to three triangular surfaces placed like this X (also bird's eye view). Do you get the idea?I think that will make the trick from a distance, while saving precious polys.Regards,http://www.avsim.com/hangar/fly/dfdg/banneraa.jpg
May 14, 200422 yr Thanks Alex I will give this a try, problem is, I have a massive list I want to give a try :-lol Ken thanks mate, Im getting more pleasure from this than anything I have done before. Though my tendancy is to run before I can walk. I have lots to learn still as at the moment Im working with basic shapes. Im completly re-doing my Airports over a long period of time. Here is Liverpool John Lennon Airports Tower.EGGP Control Tower.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/75919.jpg I would like some ideas though for other creations. Bridges are a bit further down the road yet. I made one and it looked more like road kill :-) Stevehttp://mysite.freeserve.com/ysomdesign/banner.jpg My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://www.cafeshops.com/wrexhamspace
May 14, 200422 yr OK Fiddlers Ferry Cooling Towers are now in the rightful place.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/75969.jpg John would you like to test Liverpool in about 2 weeks?Stevehttp://mysite.freeserve.com/ysomdesign/banner.jpg My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://www.cafeshops.com/wrexhamspace
May 14, 200422 yr When I have finished Liverpool I would love to do some stuff for Wayne like towers.Stevehttp://mysite.freeserve.com/ysomdesign/banner.jpg My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://www.cafeshops.com/wrexhamspace
May 14, 200422 yr Hey Steve........................I'm IMPRESSEDThe Light Rigs are fantastic!!! As you maybe aware............Pilots actually use the Chimney Stack and Beacon at Fiddlers as a marker for approach into John Lennon when I'm there (Day or Night) its amazing just how close these aircraft appear next to the Cooling Towers. These will make a superb addition to your EGGP scenery and if you can model the Runcorn bridge at sometime (Although I can appreciate this maybe a hugh task). This will surely make one of the best flying areas available to FLY.Excellent Work SteveRegards John
May 14, 200422 yr Hi Steve,Just thinking ..............What about the Lighting Stantions on the Aprons and Terminal areas (the big tall ones which are surrounded with bulbs)Oh.....you know what I mean!!!!CheersJohn
