Queen's Golden Jubilee Concorde Finale Fly-by

Recommended Posts

Guest Scott Campbell

Anyone see the palace fly-by of the Royal Air Force Red Arrows in formation on the wings of the Concorde? That was amazingly cool!! First time I've seen a passenger liner that can fly faster than the military jets!Last time something like this happened was Exeter Airport's 60th Anniversary.I've made animations of exactly this sort of thing, but never thought I'd actually see it!You Brits sure know how to party. Looks like a happy gathering. Great music, too!

Why haven't we Yanks thought of a couple 777's on the wings of a 747 with F-15s or the Blue Angels? Only time I've seen anything like this was the DIA air show just before it opened with a United Triple-7, DC-10, and 767 fly-by. What was cool about that was the planes all took off without being seen on runway 35R, to fly down runway 16 where all the spectators were. They seriously just took off, turned and flew down the other runway. Big airport.

Yes I saw it live! I jumped for joy when I saw the RAF L1011-500 Tristar. But I have to admit Concorde flanked by the Red Arrows .........I can`t even put it into words....Ed

Yes, it's moments like this that make us Brits proud ... although of the Sixties, mostly. The Beatles and Stones, Concorde, the E-type Jaguar ... need I say more? It's all got a bit sad since.Anyway, Red Arrows fans will have a chance to try that flypast for themselves soon, in multiplayer ... Kari and Mikko are working on "The Full Nine" and it's going to be something to have. Here's eight Reds, in multiplayer ... from my REDSGYPO.ZIP:http://www.swiremariners.com/reds5.jpgMark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitak.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitakv3.jpg

Hi there.Seeing Concorde flying with those BAE Hawks remeinded me of a Swan flying with her little ...hehehe Red headed babies....But the way it climbed out at the end though....Cor...I just hope that the Flight attendents werent at the front of the plane serving meals ....the cart would have been embedded in the rear bulkhead and all the PAX would have looked at eachother and thought ....OMG...My cheeks are pressed against my face, heheheheAnyway it was good and only kidding about the PAX...bet the Captain loved doing that flight.Craig Kiltie

Yeah, I loved seeing the Red Arrows with Concorde, a perfect ending to the jubilee celebrations. I am so lucky that the Red Arrows base is only 5 miles from my house and they practice overhead nearly every day! :-kewl

ScottWith the awful events of sept 11th and dreadful crash Of Concorde over Paris, this fly past had special meaning. To me it heralded the end of a troubled period and the renewal and rebirth of something good.Maybe there was more to that party than met the eye ;-)To see Concorde pull up from her escorts and soar free into the skies was a sight to behold. There is no aircraft like Concorde to stir the emotionsPeter

Disney arranged to have two Concorde's land at KMCO (Orlando, FL) about 18yrs ago. It was truly exciting to see two SSTs flying in loose formation then land on parallel runways, with touchdown almost simultaneously, finally taxiing nose to nose.Watching Goofy, Donald, etc. was a big Yawn, but the Concorde's were great.

Awfully sorry but I do not share your patriotic enthusiasm folks...As far as I'm concerned, this is a complete waste of money that could have been spent elsewhere...The queen is the richest woman on earth, I hope she paid the bill for the flight time and maintenance (fuel and maintenance for the concorde and 8 fighters must be around 30000 USD an hour (!!!!!).What is so exciting about a 70 years old lady anyway - she's not even pretty...Twister
