If you are using FS2002 then you can alter the default Vertical Speed by editing the aircraft.cfg for your aircraft. You will find it in the autopilot section of the aircraft.cfgthe line to edit in the autopilot section looks like...default_vertical_speed=1500Davidhttp://fsflightdeck.com/images/RCbeta.jpg

the only problem with is most 3rd party panels like DF and PSS already have their own com radios .Is there still a way to do that with 3rd party panels.Pretty much all I use is the PSS A320 .I love RC so far. this was worth the wait but the pilot sounds like he does not want to be flying :-lol Capt.Richard Dillon (KATL)www.jetstarairlines.comhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpghttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg"Lets Roll" 9/11 -----------------------Specs AMD 1600 XP MSI KT 266t pro2 512MB DDR 2100GF3 ti 200 64MB SBliveCh Products Yoke and Pedals(usb)Windows 2000 Serivce Pack 3

Richard,>I love RC so far. this was worth the wait but the pilot sounds like he does not want to be flyingThe actual problem is that the pilot doesn't want to record.Doug holds him down, I pull the teeth ;-)

Hi David, You are absolutely correct. The value for descent rate is indeed in the AIRCRAFT.CFG file for FS2002. Last time I did any tinkering of that parameter was in FS98 and it was then in the respective aircrafts .AIR file. Never installed FS2000. Thanks for giving us the clarification and also correcting my error.RegardsBlais

I wonder if something has changed? In vers. 2.2. you have to descend with 2000 fpm. if you want to reach 10000 ft in time.

Hello Dave and the Group, I would like to rescind ALL I entered in the previous post. I did just use the FDE utility to view a FS2002 AIRCRAFT.AIR file and this file STILL has the entry for VERTICAL_SPEED so, until I investigate the linkage between the AIRCRAFT.AIR file and the AIRCRAFT.CFG file please void all I wrote in the previous note dated Nov-25-02 at 02:50 AM.Thanks

i never have a problem with 1800ft/min

Since FS2002, an entry in aircraft.cfg overrides a similar entry in the *.air file.If you load an aircraft with an aircraft.cfg file that only has the minimum of entries that will allow it to load in FS2K2, you will observe upon exiting that the aircraft.cfg file will have beeen automatically filled with the missing entries, being parsed from the *.air file by FS2002.From then on, aircraft.cfg entries are top in priority, as far as FS2002 is concerned.Stamatis

Me either. ;-)Rob

Hi again, What you say here makes some sense. I simply haven't noticed that particular entry in the AIRCRAFT.CFG file in this version of MSFS and since I never installed FS2000 only have FS98 for reference which, of course, only had that parameter in the AIRCRAFT.AIR file. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.Regards

Then you're lucky! - if i descend with 1800 fpm, i can be sure that i have to circle around one time, while being lectured. 2000 fpm. just get me down in time... :-) But - it's not a problem, when one know..

Hello Stamata, Inspired by your comment on one of the aircraft.cfg file parameters I did perform a number of tests and have come up with a mixed feeling. Here are some conditions and results:AIR parameter -3000 ft/minCFG parameter -1000 ft/min Aircraft descends at -1000 ft/minAIR parameter -1000 ft/minCFG parameter -3000 ft/min Aircraft descends at -3000 ft/minAIR parameter -2700 ft/minCFG parameter deleted Aircraft descends at 1800 ft/min Thus, at this stage, I am not exactly sure which has priority and under what conditions. It does appear, though, that if there is a parametric entry in the CFG file then this value has precedence. Need some help from the FDE developers on this one.Regards

Hi Blais,"Thus, at this stage, I am not exactly sure which has priority and under what conditions."Based on your test results above, it is very obvious:a) The CFG entry is the ruling entry. AIR file entries are ignored, as I suggested (remember?) :( In the absense of such a CFG entry, the default value of 1800 fpm is used instead, again ignoring the AIR file entry. If you are furher interested, check something after repeating the below test:"AIR parameter -2700 ft/minCFG parameter deletedAircraft descends at 1800 ft/min"When you exit FS2002, check the aircraft.cfg again: It can be that an entry of 1800 fpm has been parsed by the program automatically.Stamatis
