Pushback and RC3

Featured Replies

Now i have changed the shortcuts, so i use ctrl+1 and ctrl+2, as i want to use 1 and 2 for the pushback function. But ever since i installed RC3 it only works now and then - actually most often it doesn't work, so i have to use slew mode to turn the plane during pushback. It's not that i'm not patient - i have backed so much, that i was about to leave the airport, just to see if it would work sometime - but, no....Are anyone else experiencing this?

PB's working just fine for me.

Hi, Lars.I've come to the conclusion that pushback works when it feels like it. It doesn't seem to matter if the aircraft is Gmax or not: if it wants to turn it will and if not...In regard to the key presses to use RC, I discovered a device called Command Pad P8000 made by Saitek (also known as the Dash2). This is a programmable keypad which can take key combinations and/or macros. So I have set it up to use 15 of the keys for RC (I don't need all the RC key presses) and the rest for other aircraft functions. It works really well, so now I only have to press one key instead of two or three. A lot easier!Keith....Wherever you go, there you are...

Hi - and thank's for the answers. Yes, it might be that the problem is caused by other things. It's just that i feel it has become worse lately - during the month i have had RC3, so that's why i asked. When it occasionally works, i almost fall off my chair. Seems it's one of those "microsoftic" things one have to live with...This Dash2 - is it hardware or software?

Lars,I think there's a built-in check to see if we have anything by JD and Doug on our system, and Mr. Bill has programmed FS to pout because we aren't using their lame-o ATC. ;-)

Just purchase FSAssist from Lago and your problems will be over. I had the same problems with pushback. FSAssist is one great product -- almost as good as RC ;)Steve

>This Dash2 - is it hardware or software? The Dash2 is a piece of hardware measuring approximately 300x175x55mm. I originally bought it to see if it would be any use as a sort of keyboard emulator for use in a home-built cockpit set up for operating various aircraft functions from push buttons.Keith....Wherever you go, there you are...

Thank's Steve - i'll have it in mind. Seems one have to buy almost a new simulator, to make the one from Microsoft work!! :-lol

I had the feeling it was, Keith. It sounds interesting, but i guess i'm spending enough money on that hobby at the moment... :-)

Why purchase push back software when there is a free PB utility on Avsim that works great. No more guessing when to press button to turn. All auto matic. Just install it on any panel as defualt or separate window.Bill M

I don't say it's too expensive, just that i have been spending a lot on that hobby and after all - the turn during pushback isn't so important that i will spend that amount on that. But i will have a look for the free one here on Avsim.. - if i can find it.. :-)

I think the name was RCBpb-11.zipBill M

If it uses the FS2002 pushback mechanism doesn't that mean that you only have 3 choices: Straight back, back and 90 degrees left, or back and 90 degrees right? With FSAssist you can pushback any distance up to 99 meters and have your nose pointed in any direction (choose the heading). For about $15 it was a steal. :-walksmile Steve

NO. you input set values for your turns and when the values run out thats where your nose is pointed. I own lago pushback and to me this free gauge is easier to use.
