February 27, 200323 yr Hello,Why is the last vector call from Approach answered by "Will Do All That"?Is this the way real pilots answer at this point of the flight? All the other responces are repeats of the instructions from ATC. In my opinion this is a very important call and should be repeated so Approach knows you understand. Also since Approach gives so much infomation at that point I would like to hear it repeated so that I am sure of the instructions as there have been times that I missed part of it. Also, in real life, how quickly does ATC start yelling about not starting your Turn/Descent/Climb? I find that RC3 ATC starts yelling too fast after a combination Altitude & Heading change is given. Lately I have been flying the Flight1 Meridian which has a Autopilot that requires a few seconds to change the settings and I feel that ATC starts complaining way too fast. Is there any way to adjust the timing to give a few more seconds for compliance of their instructions?Thanksmaxsdadhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg
February 27, 200323 yr In listening to ATC while flying UNITED into Chicago and Denver frequently this year, it is often the case that the pilots respond with a terse "summation" of the controllers instructions. Of course, at DEN and ORD the high traffic saturation makes for very little time for long elaborate readbacks of the instructions that are given to each aircraft approaching a particular runway.Similarly, I have never heard a center controller make two separate calls to vector someone for traffic (as RC3 does). It's usually a shorthand, something like "UA nine-sixty heavy turn left 15 degrees - vectors for traffic - your 2 o'clock at FL370."-michael
February 27, 200323 yr Michael,The reason you're getting two calls for traffic is because RC first sees the traffic and notifies you, then does the distance check and adds the vector. I would think it's just simpler to code since JD can use the same checks whether you're vectored or not.

March 1, 200323 yr good point on the 'will do all that'. I think I posted on this in the past. That extent of brevity on an approach clearance of all things (pilot intiated turns and descents) would not be acceptable. Granted I have less than a 1000 hours irl, I have never heard such a thing. At least thats my thoughts. I will have to look through my FARAIM to review the 'mandatory' readbacks again. March 1, 200323 yr Mike,Fly into SoCal APC some day during rush. If you dare repeat things to the controller, prepare to get a drubbing. They get really techy about having pilots have to repeat things when they're that busy.Denver is about the same on rush. They issue orders so fast you better be paying a lot of attention. The most the airliners will says is most times just callsign.I've heard Denver APC turn GA's around when they ask for clarification or repeats. When you fly into these kind of areas on rish, they expect you to pay attention and know what you're doing. So it's not unheard of. I'm sure Larry can give quite a few anecdotes about this (when he gets back).
March 1, 200323 yr Author JD and/or Scott,I removed the wav files (winwood1doallt.wav and winwood1clrd4.wav) as you said and now all I get from my pilot is an acknowledgement that he heard the instructions. Is there any way that I can get him to repeat the instructions like he does to every other call? That was my purpose for starting this thread in the first place.I would like to hear the message repeated back to the controller.maxsdadhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg
March 1, 200323 yr I believe that Cntl + Shift + / is the default combo to have the last instruction repeated. I realize that this insn't the pilot repeating it back to controller, but at least the message will be voiced again. Not a solution maybe but a workaround for your not getting the clearance the first time around.Best, Rob
March 1, 200323 yr Richard,You weren't supposed to delete clrd4.wav. You were supposed to copy it to doallt.wav.
March 2, 200323 yr Author Scott,Thanks, I read that over and see that now. I need to read a little slower when I get directions. I will fix that and try again.maxsdadhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg
March 2, 200323 yr Author Thanks RobI forgot that. I think I tried that once when I first got RC3 and it didn't work. I will try it againmaxsdadhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg
March 2, 200323 yr I agree. Typically, what I hear is:Aprch: "United 1234, five miles from LAKER, turn left heading 310 to join the localizer, maintain 2,000 until established, cleared ILS RWY 28R approach."Aircraft: "310 to join, 2,000 'til established, cleared ILS 28R, United 1234"This response is somewhat abbreviated, but adequately confirms the above instructions. In real life, there are significant risks to not repeating those critical instructions...
