Serious problem with RC

Featured Replies

Hi guys,From the beginning of using RC (now a few months ago) we encountered a serious problem. We are using RC with 767PIC and FS Navigator together. After asking for weather information (ATIS) in preflight situation by pressing 1 it is almost impossible to click some button on the panel (inclusive overhead, pedestal, FMC). By the first click FS2k2 will freeze and crashes. It does not make any difference on what button on the panel we click. A single time we can come through this first stage but then we get the same problem while enroute. Any click anywhere on the panel results in a crash. We are using the most recent versions of RC, FSUIPC and ADVDISP. Are there any known issues of the combination RC3 and 767PIC? We like RC but we are almost not able to complete a single flight. Our hardware config: Pentium 4-2Ghz, 512MB int.Can anyone help us out? Thanks in advance.By the way is there any possiblity to get rid of the standard Fs2k2 ATC window while running RC?Alje Bakker

i don't have your plane, so i can't answer from personal experience. this is the first i've heard of anything like this happening. i think i would have heard of it, before nowwhat versions of fsuipc and advdisp are you runningyou should never have the fs2k2 atc window open. that may be part of the problem. how is it getting open?

Hi Alje,I did the entire beta test for Radar Contact Ver 3 with the PIC767 withouy any of the problems you mentioned. From my understanding you cannot get rid of the FS2K2 ATC window, however if you don't press the ATC activation window you won't see it.You may have a conflict with icons that control the panel changes. Check the panel.cfg.If you still have the problem please post or write me at [email protected] Johnson

JD,Thanks for your reply. Here are the answers.1. FSUIPC 2.975 AdvDisp 2.022. I will tell you the exact process how we startup Fs2k2 etc.a. start Fs2k2 with the last saved situation (dark and cold cockpit).b. load real weather. hereafter fly-now.c. start Fsnav; make flightplan and export to Fs2k2 and 767PIC (FMC).d. back in Fs2k2 we adjust fuel-settings and load the flightplan.e. on the overhead of the 767 we switch on (battery, APU, etc) electrical power. f. at that moment the Fs2k2 ATC window will pop-up (ATC chatter with AI traffic etc). every time when the window pops-up we click it away.g. load the flightplan in FMC. we make adjustments in the FMC. align IRS.h. launch RC. after loading flightplan and some adjustments we start RC.i. after align procedure we complete the rest of the settings on the panel of the 767. engines are still off.j. pressing 1 in RC gives a weather briefing etc.k. hereafter any click on a button in the panel results in an Fs2k2 crash.I hope we made it clear to you the procedure we follow. Also I hope you can give me some answers to resolve this issue. Thanks in advance.Alje

Hi Bob,Thanks for your reply. For your information I just have replied on the answer from jd. In that reply I have pointed out the whole process which leads to the crash of Fs2k2. I hope you can use that information. You stated that it might be a conflict with icons that control the panel changes. What do you exactly mean by that? Can you tell me what I have to check in the panel.cfg? Thanks for your offer that in case the problem persist I can write to you directly. You possibly may have noticed that I do not have the faintest idea of the cause of this problem. Thanks in advance.CheersAlje Bakker

Just throwing "more stuff to think about" into the arena:Maybe it's your "Last Saved Situation" that causing the problem. I've heard (from a friend's cousin's sister's neighbor) that FS2K2 can sometimes save screwy situations.Try your procedures listed above, but instead...1) start with the default Cesnna fligh2) shutdown the engine, etc. to make it "dark & cold" (don't save or quit)3) change aircraft to your big bird4) continue with the rest of your stuff. This leaves out the "Last Saved Situation" issues that may (or may not) exist.A shot in the dark but maybe it will help. Good luck.Brad

Alje,In the Settings/ATC menu, you can turn off "Automatically open ATC window" and it won't open every time someone talks. Then the manual control is the toilda (~) on the US keyboard. You can check the assignment on others.

I'm pretty sure that your problem is that you haven't used the Customize RC Keys option. By pressing the "1" key, you are keying both FSATC and Radar Contact. I have 767PIC and use it quite a lot with RC. I have FSUIPC 2.975, AdvDisp 2.02, etc., and haven't had the problem you describe. Check your Customize RC Keys options. RC must have something other than just the number key if you are using FSATC (which you are since it keeps popping up on you). The other option is to disable FSATC completely and just use RC. Hope this helps.:-wave Steve

Alje,You do use quite a bit different procedure than I do to lunch things. I am not going to say mine is correct, but it has not caused a crash, so we know my procedure does work. I would like you to try this process and post back if it works. You would have to email me to try my panel cfg and then the gauges. But for now lets go over the procedures.First go to the default flight at Meigs Field, change aircraft from the C172 to the PIC767 aircraft you use. I have a PIC767/POSKYUAL 767. Move the aircraft to the airport you want. Shut down the 767 with the following steps;Set Parking BrakesFuel Cut OffHydraulic Systems OffYaw Dampers OffAnti-Ice OffFuel Pumps OffTrim and Recirculations Fans OffAPU onElectrical Systems ONSave Flight (remember last panel setting)Second, Here is the FS/PIC Startup Procedure;FSNav or FSBuild Flight plan completed and exported to FS2K2 FlightsCompute FuelFS2002 Start (PIC767 load)Active Sky or FSMeteo loadFuel LoadGo to cockpit viewFMC Init Page selectOverhead Panel selectBattery Switch ON (confirm on)Electrical Power ON (confirm on)If this sequence does not cause a crash, you may infer that the starting from a "Cold and Dark" setting may have been corrupt. As stated in another post, check that you have not crossed a customize key setting with a setting in the FS2002 options window.Let us KnowCheersBobRadar Con
